hi all,
here's another one i saw today which i wondered about. my mate was proudly showing me his new bathroom and i thought i'd have a nose at the electrical arrangements.
he too has another old 1361 fuse box, with a new 13A 30mA RCD FCU installed on the wall above said fuse box providing the...
Hi I'm sitting my unit 4 exam for C &G 2330 electrotechnical course.
I'm a little confused to calculate the answer to this question
I can't get the same answer
10 x 60w fluorescent lamps will have an assumed current demand at 230v of
a. 2.6A
b. 4.35 A
c. 4.7 A

I am a Yank electrician, I cant find where in 16th or 17th edition you have the
diversity factor for calculating loads.
Example:
1. In one office or sleeping room I put 4 power sockets on a 32 amp ring circuit.
We have 100 identical sleeping rooms or offices. What is the total load
that we...
Hi everyone,
Can anyone help just trying to calculate the electrical demand and not sure about it. The circuits are as follow:
4 x lighting circuits (2 that are smoke circuits)
4 x ring mains
1 x radial for boiler
1 x cooker (32 amp supply needed, 28.6 amps without socket point on isolator?)...
i'm trying to work out total load of a consumer unit on a job, lighting and other bits are quite straight forward but when it comes to socket circuits i'm not too sure if i reading the diversity table right it says " 100% of current demand of largest point of utilisation + 40% of current demand...
hi guys
ive got myself a little confused here when trying to calculate a max demand figure for the installation below.
60amp TNCS supply to a bungalow.
1x 30A Ring Main
1x 30A cooker unit(with socket)
1x 40A Shower (8.5kw)
2x 20A Radials
1x 5A Lights (7x100w)

Hello all
I've got my NICEIC inspection in about 8 weeks time so i can hopefully join up with the NICEIC if all goes to plan.
For the major im doing a consumer unit change at my mum and dads house ive spoke to western power they are coming out soon to fit an isolator in the line so i can...
Watched the NICEIC's periodic inspection reporting dvd the other night, good overall and helpful but one thing I just cant agree with.
I'm sure Tony Cable is a good electrician but when it came to the section on Maximum Demand he measured it with a clampmeter around the Line Tail and shouted "...
hi i have done a board change on a property for my assesment working out max demand with diversity is giving me a result of 152 amps due to there being 3 rings and 2 single sockets on seperate circuits really boosting the demand i know it will never pull this can someone suggest what to put in...
Pre empting my 2382 and trying to calculate lb so as I can calculate voltage drop.
Circuit I have used for this is an upstairs lighting circuit, 1mm2 t&e 4 light points and length of approx 19m.
Cable installed to ref method C.
Getting myself a bit confused but this is what I think I...
havent got my books no more as lost on train last week or id have look,,,, ive seen loads of people talking about diversty on cookers 10% then 30% of remainder, what does this all apply to, isit just cookers.....
Being looking at sizing Cable for a new Cooker . It is a Beast with a manufacturesrs spec of 17.4 KW. Was applying diversity to this ie 10amps plus 30% etc ( no 5 amp).
Just got me thinking that after the diversity the answer is 29.7 Amps down from 75.6amps. Was diversity designed to allow...
i need to wire in a 200a distribution board from a 400a board in an ind factory. Do i take diversity into account. The on-site guide says no but the Bs 7671 says yes but doesnt state if its for distribution boards or single circuits
Hello all,
Have a potential 2 flat in the near future which are both tiny 1 bed flat. It consists of:
Cooker 3kw,hob 5kw,3 electric 1kw heaters,7kw shower,2kw under sink heater(not instantaneous) light and 2 rings. After diversity calcs i come to about 70 amps. I still think that this is a...
Evening chaps,
Been having a think about this:
Doing an extension soon which has an existing 6mm to iso for cooker.
The kitchen's being ripped out soon and a micro- combi 3.6kw and single oven 3.3kw are going in with a 10.5kw halogen hob.
EDITED for clarity:
It actually looks like...
Hi All
I'm still training and wonder if someone could explain the diversity factor that can be applied when specing for a cooker install and knowing what cable and mcb to use?
Many Thank in advance
Sky
Obviously it's new technology and not necessarily dealt with in existing regs. But anyone know if diversity is applied any differently when installing ?
ie 10 Amps plus 30% of remaining load. ?
cheers
