My house has overhead L & N Supply with TT Earthing, an Electrician put in a new Consumer unit for me with 30ma RCD and Mcbs but the old MEM COELCB
that was in use with the old Fusebox remained, this incidentally is rated @40A. 30ma Trip
as i have now built an extension to the house and need to...
Are there any members on here that currently use this piece of kit? I'm looking for that extra push before hitting the "Pay" button ;)
Dialog DL6507
I'm not buying it for the sake of it, I do actually need one to assist me with some fault finding at my Brother's property.
I know this is...
installation is a supermarket reading 125A on main earth within switchroom system protected with high leakage alarms any thoughts on possible reasons for such a high value of leakage however when checked at buildings utility hv supply main earth reads only (lol)40A ON MAIN EARTH CABLE but 2.5Aon...
Hi guys (and gals?),
My first post, so be gentle! Still new to this game and building up my tool collection - been quoted £192 for the sensitive current clamp attachment for my Metrel 17th edition multimeter. Got an earth leakage problem to look at so need the tool - any other/cheaper...
Can somebody offer an opinion on this guys?
TNCS, earth leakage clampmeter on the main earthing conductor from service head to the MET reads 67mA when the main DP switch is off, am i picking this current up from the combined Earth/Neutral in the head?, it cant be an installation leak as the...
might be having a blonde moment here, but.... if an installation has earth leakage, could this be measured with an earth leakage clamp meter on the main earthing conductor and/or the main bonding conductors as logically, if there is leakage , you would expect the current to travel to earth...
Hi Looking at a minor works job in a flat, board which isn't split has a BS4293 RCCB as a main switch fed from an Earth leakage trip. I know both are obsolete and the SSC for the RCCB is 1500A. Am I right saying I can't just remove the earth leakage trip and replace the RCCB with a BS61008 as...
testing a house today before I put RCD protection on it and i got 300mA earth leakage. appox 100mA from the sockets, 180mA on the downstairs lighting circuit, then 20 odd mA accross the rest of the circuits.
I had a poke around the downstairs lighting circuit, couldn't see anything obvious, did...
Hi Everybody,
Been looking to get an earth leakage clamp meter for some time, and I have been reading up on them on the forum.
After a thread last week Telectrix posted a link to an Ebay site for an Alphatec TEK 633. and I have since bought one, just got it and I must say It looks the...
I am not an electrician but would nevertheless understand what the normal procedure is to test earth leakage / isolate an earth leakage problem.
One way is to switch all the switches off at the main DB board, switch them on one by one and see which one triggers the earth leakage circuit...
Changed a CU about a month ago to a dual RCD but it keeps having intermittent tripping on the 2nd RCD, before changing it i did a full test and all IR was very good @ >999Mohm range no faults found.
I tested the leakage with my clamp meter and recorded a value of 34mA at the incoming tails...
Hi guys.
This is to do with Periodic Inspections. When you are testing a circuit and forget to unplug a piece of equipment that has a high earth leakage could this be damaged doing the ins res test between live and earth. I do not know electronics but is there a connection to earth. The problem...
lads, some advice please
just been to price job, couple of new ccts to loft conv. Had a look at CU and its an old MEM with type 2 breakers and an Earth Leakage RCD. Do i need to replace board with New RCDs or is it still ok to add to this,If yes can i still get type 2 MEM breakers ?????????
Would someone please remind me how I can do this again? I know if I clamp the neutral only it will give me a reading stating how out of balance the phases are but do I clamp neutral and earth together at the same time to obtain earth leakage current?
Hi all
does any ony know what earth leakage a computer gives.
as i have a site which will have only a few computers all cable are flush and customer wants a few additional sockets.
543.7.1.3 is for circuit with 10mA of leakage,
also if so can you clarify
543.7.1.3(i) a 10mm earth...
