Hi Guys looking for your thoughts.
Quoting for a job where there the roof I suggested putting 16 x 250w panels is facing 93 degrees east. The customer has had an alternative quote and the installer has suggested splitting system 8 panels east and 8 panels west. The customer asked for my...
First off, i'll say hello to you all!
My name is Luke and i work at Walsall Electrical Ltd in Norwich. We merged into the Solar PV market late last year, and the end of year sales were relatively good, considering the competition from pretty much every wholesaler in the region that 'got in...
Looking to install 10 x 250w East facing and 6 x 250w West facing on one Sunny Boy inverter.
Originally was looking at splitting 9 east 7 West but was told that would not work.
A bit wary now - should the 10 East, 6 West split work OK?
thanks Chris

I wouldn't do it but a client asked about an east/west split on one string. I couldn't quite describe how bad the effect would be? Would the 8 on the east side(shaded eg.) drag the current down from the 8 on the west (sun shining on)? Or any other answers? Much appreciated
Hi
I have just had a job in to fit 16 panels split into 2 banks of 8 east/west facing.
Inverter position is near the west side of the roof.
The building is a barn conversion and has all the internal ceilings vaulted up to the ridge ie no loft space.
Does anyone have any bright ideas as to how...

Has anyone had any problems with east /f west/f systems?

Hi, im after some advice on an east/west split with a 4000tl please. I would assume it wise to turn on the optitrac feature due to the consistant shading issues an e/w system on a pitched roof would have? Has anyone ever compared yields with it on/off? All advice most welcome as this will be my...
I am about to rewire a house but the local council says that the house must generate 10% of it's own energy. The problem is that it's an east/west roof. Can we still use solar panels? also how many would be needed. The house will be sold once it's finished so not too worried about long term...
Hi Guys
Can anyone please tell me which is best?
A west system or split east-west system.
Both would be of about 3.5 kw.
Many thanks
Cider
P.S. Best being better performing, not easiest to install.
I have just surveyed a property that has a roof ridge running due north/south, therefore making the panels facing either East, West or a combination of the two. The have opted for a 4KW system and my thinking of spliting the array is to even out the daily production as the sun moves. Rather...
