Hi All,
Bit of a basic question here, but my brain is fried!!!!
Got an immersion tank with an element in the top of the tank and one in the bottom.
The one in the top is to be used as a boost for hot water.
The one in the bottom is being used on a timer (controller)
I was wondering if I...
OK so my immersion heating element had been going bang, and blew a few sparks, i went to disconnect it completely from the isolator switch and the actual unit and the cable had been burnt through, everything was shorting itself out, it was only 1.5mm flex. any idea what may have caused this??
Got called to an immersion not working. When switched on there is 230V going through stat to element 230v between L and E but also 230v between N and E. resistance of element is 20 ohm does this soy d like element is faulty?
Also if this requires replacing the angle the element will come out...
Morning guys,
Appliances are not my forte but I'm helping a friend. I've replaced his 1800W element that was blown. When I turn the isolator on the element in question just goes on by itself, without even turning it on at the knob. Obviously this is why the last one burned out.
Any ideas why...
A client wants to put gas hob ign, dishwasher, cooker and fridge freezer into grid switches. The main problem I have at the moment is the Tech Spec on the cooker lists 'Power (w) 40'. Surely this is the inside light bulb!. The cooker is a Zanussi ZYB460X. espares lists the main element at 2Kw...
guys,
head is battered its been a bad day and cant think straight.
Replaced a 3kW water heater element and everything went well. Circuit tested out fine so turned everything back on but when the element is pulling im getting L-N 238 L-N 234 N-E 4V!!! This was tested at element but is the same...

Has anyone ever fitted one of these to a dual feed towel rail?

Hello
I have lived in my flat for over 6 years without ANY electrical problems whatsoever. Now, since having a new Wylex consumer unit fitted with RCD's my grill on my cooker keeps tripping the RCD's after it has been on for around 2 minutes. The grill was used every day for the week before so...
Seems everybody is going down this road now we have more time on our hands? Energy management systems, using the new monitoring gear or using contactor from inverter relay!
Yes I am trying to find a cheapish 3 phase immersion to cable as 1-2kw or 3kw domestic water cylinder heating system. At...
Hi, i have just finished rewiring a garage for a customer who runs a cleaning business. On the last day he asked me to wire up an immersion heater that is fitted to a wash tank in his van, he plans to just plug it in for an hour each morning so he has warm water for the days work. Is the plug ok...
Investigators at a major research institute have discovered the heaviest element known to science. This startling new discovery has been tentatively named Administratium (Ad). The new element has no protons or electrons, thus having an atomic number of 0. It does, however, have 1 neutron, 125...
I was asked to connect power to an element in a newly fitted towel rail.
The customer now wants to use the element to heat there towels but at the same time leave the ch system on as it comes on at night when its cold.
Got a call and they said the top part of the rad was scorching hot

cooker grill element has stopped working, now how would you guys go about this in the safest manner.
would it be check the voltage is still going to element, then isolate then check resistance of element?? i=p/u
Can someone remind me, I can't find this in regs.
I recall from lessons that if one alter part of a circuit, then the entire circuit now needs to be upgraded to current regs?
Is this the case? - where is it found?
For example, say I take a existing ring final which has had a recent periodic...
Hi
I have a Bosch double oven, approx 8 yrs old, which has developed an annoying fault.
About every 3 months, the heating element in the fan oven blows.
It doesn't just trip the C/U, it blows to an extent that the element itself snaps or furs up/melts.
The oven is connected correctly to a...
I have an RCD tripping intermittantly. The house wiring all tests ok.
I want to rule out the cooker, how would you a cooker element without damaging the controls?

Evening all.
Just had a callout to an immersion heater making wierd knocking sound within 30 seconds or so of being switched on. Seems to be the thermostat in the dry pocket and if I hold the thermostat then the knocking stops.
Polarity, voltage etc correct. Top 22" immersion heater...

Customer rang to say his washing machine trips the circuit in the middle of the cycle. He said, it ran for a while and stopped. Enquired on the phone and it looked like it only tripped the MCB and the RCD stayed on.
It's on a radial circuit with 16A MCB. Could someone shed some light on this...
