Hi all,
In the middle of rewring a hotel, customer has just decided he wants a bespoke light fitting made for to hang in the 5 story stair well. He would also like to do away with the emergency light fittings on each landing, as apparently they look too "modern". The new fitting has 30x 6w...
finished a job a little while ago for a builder who was refurbishing a male and female toilet. the existing lunch box running man em lights were replaced (as per customer specs) with recessed led em lights, one above the exit door and one in the centre of the room. I received a call today from...
Apologies for what will seem a daft question to you guys - I am not an electrician, and have not got to grips with the different voltages on appliances.
Can someone tell me if these lights can be wired into the mains - these state 110v so if not would these usually be powered by a generator or...
Hi,
Hoping someone can give me some insight into emergency lighting circuits. I've never had to install an emergency lighting circuit, only testing of the circuit.
We have an emergency lighting circuit in place but I've been asked to add a couple of additional emergency lights to an area that...
Hey all,
I am looking for slimline lighting that has emergency capability and is rated to IP65.
I could go to IP54 but requirement is as slim as possible with emergency functionality to connect to a static inverter for emergency lighting.
Any help would be great.

Hi There
I work on a large Government site with 500+ emergency lights, both maintained and non-maintained. Some of the emergency lighting circuits are wired so that upon carrying out a key switch test the normal lighting goes off.
But there are some emergency lights where the normal lights...

Hi, just been asked to install some new EL's, and wasn't sure if I fit the self testing units whether the key switch was still required in the circuit for testing. Thanks
hi all,
am I right in assuming we cant use the red forms anymore? haven't done any eme testing for some time but have a few red forms lying a bout and have asked to test a system in HMO only 5 NM lights
LO All,
The title says it all really.
I've just tested a shed load of 11 year old emergency lights and effectively all of them have failed or failing tubes.
Since the most that they should have been on is 11 x 1 hour and 1 x 3 hours per year why would a 5000 hour lamp fail?
After 11 years I...
Does anyone know of a supplier who can source decorative or architectural emergency lighting? It is for a Grade 2 listed cow shed and an LED bulkhead would look rather nasty compared to the rest of the lighting.
It is to be wall mounted in a stud wall in a corridor between two bedrooms so could...
Am I right in saying the Exit Box needs to be permenantly lit only in public places where people are unfamiliar with the layout, but in installations like HMO's where people are familiar with layout the exit box only needs to be lit in the event of a power cut?

I have a couple of questions about testing and maintenance of emergency lights.
I have been told that if the LED on an emergency light does not work it must be considered “Failed” and the fitting replaced, but when reading up, I cannot find any regulations or guidance to suggest this is...
Recently I was checking some emergency lights were functioning/charging/etc. Found that three out of five of the fittings had ceased to work at all. Then noticed discolouration at the same point on each fitting (close to the green power LED). Inside each fitting the PCB was also discoloured in...
