Hi There!
Background info:

Afternoon,
I have heard off my supplier, the training course I did my 2919 and a few trusted mate that Rolec now do a charger with a PEN fault detector built in. Although my supplier is now struggling with the part number.
Anyone fitted on yet? Is this like the Unicorn device of old ?. Not...
Plan to offer installation of EV Chargers, but not interested in using Earth Rods. I can only find two products, Zappi and Podpoint. Are there any others? Who would other EV installers recommend?
So my understanding is I need to be trained with a particular manufacturer before becoming OLEV registered? Just wondering if anyone has experience with EV charging points and which brand they would recommend for home use?
Cheers

I stupidly cut a melted plug off a 10A plug in charger today as is was completely melted only to find it has six wires in it, I take it they are current sensors so it is now game over
Looking at installing 2x double EV charger units in an underground car park each unit requires 64A supplies, the nearest fuseboard is roughly 120m away
What would be the best option, installing a local DB near the chargers and running 2x smaller SWA's to the units or installing 2x larger cables...
No doubt been done to death..Ive steered clear of EV charging to date..but.. scenario is block paved drive, TN-C-S, customer just wants an outside socket to plug the lead from his soon to be delivered hybrid. Undertood to be a 10A slow charger. Doesn't want the expense of a dedicated charging...
Had an email today with the results of the OLEV homecharge scheme audit, some interesting bits in the report about things found when they audited a number of installs nationally.
Apparently they audited one of mine but I have not heard which or had a letter advising of any non conformity? By the...
I have a client who’d like a cable installed in anticipation of an EV charger at some point in the future. No idea what charger it’s likely to be. Thinking of basing cable calculations based on a load of around 7.5Kw. Thoughts?
Hi guys,
Not long on the OLEV register.
Just wondering how you guys price your work.
Do you just quote by taking in to account and passing the £500 grant on to the customer?
Is this, then the same invoice you submit to OLEV?
Do you itemise the grant separately for the customer?
Just...
I have completed the 2919 course and was told during this that all chargers would require a TT connection, whether solely for the charger or as part of the full installation. Since completing the course a while ago now, I have discussed with some electricians who say they don't install an earth...
Hi All
I am buying a new house soon and plan to get quite a bit of work done to it - but not all at once.
Initially I am planning a kitchen extension and moving around some internal walls.
Eventually I would to add solar panels, EV charger and power wall to the garage which is a separate...
Hi,
Can I ask some advice on what to bury please?
This is the the front of my house in plan view. House at the bottom. Porch at the bottom left. Driveway at the top. There's a fence between the driveway and the lawn. The incoming electricity supply runs underground down the left hand side of...
Hi,
We had a EV charger installed recently over the past day ie 32amp 7.2kw. In the fuse cupboard I’ve attached before and after photos.
I have a 100amp fuse for the house.
For the new EV board setup, should the 2 grey cables entering the EV board (10mm) be the same 25mm thickness as the...
I had an email this week from PodPoint. The new Pod Point Solo EV charger does not require an earth rod and can be used with PME.
It has in built DC protection and complies fully with the 18th ed Regs.
From what I can see and having done the online little training thing, it is brilliant.
Taken...
Good afternoon ladies and gents.
Could someone please tell me if qualifications are required to install the above kit, or they need to be commissioned by someone approved to do so?
Thank you.
I went to a job today for a long standing customer of ours who had an unrelated problem.
While I was there customer asked me to look at the above charger that had been fitted in their car port. Whoever installed it - possibly Chargemasters in house team did a few things that were either clearly...
This has been discussed before but I'm still not clear and would appreciate input.
I'm installing a home EV charger (Andersen A2) and need to decide on the right RCD/RCBO to terminate the connection at the CU.
- The system will run at 32A, the charger is connected to the CU via ~20m of 6sqmm...
I install EV chargers, often under the OLEV scheme. next year all chargers subsidised by the government will have to be 'smart' we all know how the smart meter roll out is going! but it seems only a matter of time before they determine that cars can only be charged at certain times etc or must...
