Was called to a property the other day to inspect ventilation problem in bathroom. The attached pics is what I found. Anyone ever seen anything like this. Kitchen backed onto bathroom and in there there was another motor box directly behind grille and motor in bathroom
Been looking extractor fans for bathroom getting damp from moisture, poor performance extractor I think, but been looking at inline ones and also kitchen ones, does anyone use kitchen ones, providing still suitable up ratings?
So my mum is currently giving the old man gyp about the extractor fan in their en suite (WC and sink) 4" manrose or something currently (tbh its average noise at most...)
She wants something quieter (and the old man wants something non wallet breaking..)
So had a shufti...toolstation do one...
Hi,
I am a general handyman, and I have a customer with a basic ceiling extractor fan in their bathroom. It is connected to the ceiling light and comes on and off with the light switch.
They now want the option of switching it off (while the light is on).
Is there a way I can incorporate a pull...
Hi All
I need to install an extractor fan for a customer but can't Vent it outside due to it being a basement and a concrete reinforced floor.
This basement is a commercial building and getting very wet.
Ideally if I could find an extractor fan which changes the humidity to water so I...
Hi there,I want to have an extractor fan installed in my bathroom ceiling to supplement the ventilation from the openable window. The plumber who is fitting my new bathroom has told me it's easy for him to fit a fan in series in the lighting ring. As there is no other power supply up there it...
Hi all,
I was called out to a business as their kitchen extractor fan isn't working. It has 230v but only rotates after you physically give it a flick rotation. I believe that I need a new capacitor? It has a variable speed controller. The capacitor looks very old and the tech info has...
Hi
i have installed a replacement extractor fan in my bathroom. It is a timed Humidity fan. The wiring from the fan requires a Live, Sw Live and Neutral.
I was going to link it to my light fitting but this doesn't have a Neutral/Earth wire ( whole upstairs lighting is due for renewal). So...

Hi,
I am updating my bathrooms. Which supplier would you recommend for extractor fans, vent axia, icon, vectaire, Xpelair etc.
Are there any features I should consider? Was thinking about getting a humidity tracking fan for the Utility room, do you think that is a good idea?
Thanks.
Does anyone recognise/know of the manufacturer of this bathroom extractor fan?
There are no manufacturer's marking on the actual unit
Thank you in advance

Now we have to protect with a 1A fuse! Needless to say they do not include one with the fan.
Cracking fan by the way for windy coastal locations.
Hi got a customer who has a icon 45 bathroom extractor fan, fitted by myself and it develops water droplets on the front grill and drips on the floor. It is flush mounted in the wall through a 40mm polystyrene backed plaster board. I have put some expanding foam between the wall and the back of...
Hi everyone - This is weird - not strictly an electrical question, as I'm comfortable with what I've been asked to do in that area...I've even tested the fan in this job works as expected and it does. Fine.
BUT...
I've been asked to install a number of bathroom extractor fans in an old hotel...
Afternoon all,
Long time lurker here, came across this extractor fan the other day in a flat, approx 1980's built, no labels on it or anything.
Trying to source a replacement as it is no longer working, however damned if I know where to find one.
Wondered if anyone else has come across one...
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a decent manufacturer for bathroom extractor fans and the best place to buy them?
Fitted a CED 100mm one from toolstation about 18 months ago and it is already really noisy!
Going to replace it with a slightly more expensive one.
Thanks
A friend of mine has just replaced some halogen GU10 lamps in his bathroom with LED lamps from Amazon.
Hes saying since swapping the lamps, the extractor fan runs continuously. (230v in-line unit in the loft with over run timer)
He tried swapping one LED lamp back to halogen and it worked as...
Took a look at a job in a commercial kitchen. I normally do domestic so I've never seen this before but there's a some kind of automatic switching that detects gas flow to the oven and automatically starts the extractor hood.
It's obviously malfunctioned at some point because it's been...
I have been asked by a regular customer to do a few small jobs in their house. One of the jobs was to replace an existing extractor fan which has vented into the loft for the past 5 years (approx). At present it does not work at all.
I explained that I was not happy to do this and I explained...
Hi
I fitted a Vent-Axia extractor fan a little while ago (about a couple of months if my memory serves me correctly). Now my customer informs me it has stopped working. It will of course be under warranty, but do I have any rights when it comes to getting Vent-Axia to pay for my time/call...
