A simple question with hopefully a simple answer!
We have a switched 13A fcu which controls an external RCD protected double socket.
I can leave this on constantly and without anything plugged, it turns half off so the switch is level. I can turn it back on and it works fine
What could be...
Please excuse the basic question, I am rewiring an FCU for a washing machine, adding a socket to the FCU output to plug the washing machine into rather than wiring the washing machine directly into the FCU without a plug.
Just want to check that it is ok to wire both circuit wires back into the...
Hi,
New here so not too sure if I posted in the right area.
I’m planning to put two outdoor lights one in the back garden and one in the front.
My plan is to use an unused FCU near the garden side of my house (my boiler room), I am going to change it into an RCD FCU and then run a cable...
Been having a debate with a mate this afternoon about a circuit in his house.
The circuit is a radial with 16 amp mcb that was previously used to feed his immersion heater that was removed when a boiler was fitted- he doesn't have a radiator in the conservatory and cant afford one to be fitted...

Just seeking some advise. I don't want to go into the long ins and outs of the job so I'll just give you the basics.

Hi
I'm replacing an old double oven that had a fixed connection to a DP SFCU.
The new oven is rated up to 4.8kW/ 20A on the spec.
I was thinking of just purchasing some 4mm T&E and sleeve the CPC at both ends and connect it to the SFCU where the old oven was.
As I don't know what the old oven...
Hi all,
I've looked at a job in a conservatory where there is a 3A FCU powering the light in the conservatory but the location of the FCU is as low down as a socket, under the window, making it difficult for the customer to reach down all the time. They want it moving to a standard height. Can...
Hello
Just looking for some advice re an FCU.
I have an internal FCU which controls a single external socket.
Need to add an additional external socket about 6m away from the existing.
Best way to do it.
Thanks Gary
Hi everyone, hope you're well on this dull Sunday afternoon :)
I want to add an outdoor socket for the garden and was hoping to use an existing (unused) FCU inside the house... For clarity, when we moved into the house I saw there was an FCU next to a double socket. I was told this was for an...
Adding an extractor fan off of a 6A lighting circuit.
Installation instructions specify a local isolator (as I would anyway) so 3 pole isolator will be used.
Switching L SL and N however should I have an FCU upstream of the live?
It would be 6A fused as specified which seems pointless the RCBO...
I have recently had my house flooded, my insurance company have redone my kitchen but changed the location the dishwasher will be in to get it closer to the plumbing. I need to get power to the dishwasher but the socket above has already been spured (more than once and not by me) so don't want...
Hi, is there a max distance an fcu can be from an appliance ? Im looking to fit a wall heater on a dedicated circuit; I know the fcu needs to be near to the heater for isolation and maintenance ? I cannot find anything to define "near", in Reg 537.3.2 at least. Anyone know ?
I am looking to install power and light into what was a "coal house" that is going to be used to hold a small domestic chest freezer.
The room itself is part of the fabric of the house, but is only accessible by an external door. The wiring run will be direct through the kitchen wall into the...

Hey everyone,
Just a quick one... following a design issued it shows a spur located behind an electric fireplace.
I dont believe there to be an issue but have been questioned about the compliance of the installation due to this?
I have had a search about and cant find anything which would...
customer asked for a 2g socket and single light to be put into her outhouse which was connected to her kitchen, as there was no power there i had to take a spur off the existing kitchen radial circuit into the outhouse, i took it from the spur to a 13amp FCU onto a 2g socket then onto a 3amp FCU...
Hi all
I've come across a double gang socket outlet with a crack running from the earth upwards and one from the live downwards
What could have caused this would excess amperage cause this
Same goes for the switched FCU, it has a crack on the face where the fuse input is situated
Does anyone know if you can get a FCU and timer switch in one unit. Customer has a switched FCU off ring main powering some outside lights and wants them to be put on a timer. Any recommendations. Thanks.
