Hi all
I am changing a consumer unit and noticed that a FCU for the boiler and a double socket have been spurred from the same socket.
As its was previously installed by someone else, do I record it as a recommendation?
Not too keen on leaving it, although its been there years. Just more...

Morning gang, was wondering the best way to approach wiring an extension in the sense that taking an fcu spur off of the ring for a double socket fine if he wants another socket whats best way to do? He's a bit tight for a new circuit because it'll mean another cu so for the sake of a couple of...
Hi,
i have been asked to install a towel rail in bathroom. Looks like there was already a towel rail there before as there is a blanking plate low level which has a feed in it from a fcu outside the bathroom. There is no RCD protection on the circuit (old fuse board).

Any thoughts much apprciated.

Hi all
have any of you ever come across a problem where the fuse carrier of a fused connection unit has popped out on its own leaving the 3 amp fuse undamaged? I went to a house this morning to investigate what seems to be a different issue not related to this fcu problem, but apparently this...
Hi guys whats your opinion on a low level fused spur in a bathroom in zone 2 to feed a shower waste pump.
I have been sent to connect up 3 waste pumps, but the previous spark has put a switched fused spur about 300mm above floor level in zone 2 to power these pumps.
Is this acceptable or do...

Hi folks,

Replacing an outside socket with a wiska box and swa to supply a nearby shed. Socket and a light is all that's needed inside. Installing metalclad double socket for swa to connect to.

Hi Guys
I need to add a 3A FCU to 3 core and earth cable for a timed extraction fan (prior to the TP switch), how is this achieved with only L N and E connections on the FCU?

I sometimes get some work helping a fellow sparky. Last week he asked me to help him on wiring a loft conversion. He is the one responsible for the cert (design, install and testing). I was just the hired help.
He said we are going to take a spur from the ring to a 13A FCU for the sockets and a...
Although this is my first post I'd like to say how valuable I have found the information posted on this forum, so a big thanks to all the contributors. I've come across an issue filling out an EIC for a consumer unit I've just fitted to a domestic property. A conservatory was added to the...

When we first moved into our house about 16 years ago the whole of the downstairs power, including the kitchen was re-wired by Eastern Electricity. The ancient fuse box was replaced to a Wylex consumer unit (I think 12 way) with mcb's and 1 rcd in it.
Also power was added to the loft...
Hi, hpoe some one can shed a bit of light on this subject.
Am i able to install a switched fcu in a shower room.
The fcu is more than 0.6m away from shower tray and is feeding a towel rail.
It is also rcd protected.
Seems to be a bit of a grey area to me.
Many thanks.

Just wondering whether it was best to instal pop up sockets for the kitchen by plugging it in a single socket on the kitchen ring main.... or if it should be wired into a FCU with flex outlet on the ring?
