Hi,
I have been a long-term observer of these excellent forums but this is my first post.
After much deliberation - both me and my dad were due to be having identical 4kw PV installs done today.
The scaffolding is outside both of our properties as I write - having been erected yesterday...

Hi
I have fitted a few bathroom tv's in the past (aquavision), these are specially designed and allowed in zones 1 and 2. And are fitted into the wall etc.
These tv's are very expensive, and I have had a number of customers enquire about installing "normal" led tv's into bathrooms.
I can't...

Afternoon, had a fault this afternoon at a property that one of my lads rewired 12 month ago. The property in question has a 11 kw in line heater that warms a tank up for the domestic hot water and also the central heating. The heater draws close to 50 amp so we fitted a separate consumer unit...
Long story this one, I wont say who has fitted this but it is a Major UK kitchen supplier/installer. They are claiming that this install is fine, but the extractor is configured to vent outside and the installer has said its a recirculating extractor. Regardless of this the plug socket gets...
Went back to a property today to start the second fix on a rewire I'm doing. Noticed bitumin dripping from service head. Phoned DNO & only hour or so later came out. The head was full of it. Bloke said that it had been going for ages and it was creeping up the supply cable. It definately wasn't...
According to HM Revenue & Customs, the 5% VAT rate applies to:
My question is; does the reduced VAT rate apply for an installation done on a barn roof if the power is still being sent back to the farm house (a residential accommodation).
The reason I ask is because I called HM Revenue &...
Anyone worked on GEC System 4 gear?
Got a phone call this morning from an old mate Dave. He’s had a switch getting hot for a while purely down to increased load. Last weekend he up rated the switch from 400 to 630A but down rated the 630A fuses to 500A. It’s a dead easy job to do, 400 & 630A...
In the last 2 weeeks I have fitted 3 5x5 Hagar boards.
On testing both pre fitted RCD's failed on all 3 boards.
The replacement RCD's worked fine.
Be warned.
Annoyed over the lost time. First one took a hour and a half round trip to get the replacements.
Has anyone had any dealings with Budget Solar based in Bolton? They are advertising an MCS fitted 4KW system using JA Solar 250W mono panels and a Fronius IG TL 3.6 inverter with 5 year workmanship warranty for £8000 all in.
Is this kit OK or is it a case of 'get what you pay for'?
BTW found...

Hi,
Being a novice, I was wondering if anyone could advise me whether it is worth having the free solar panels fitted. The company would own my roof for 15 years and I would have 10 panels fitted. They have told me that I will get money back, is this true? How does it all work? (or is it a...
