Hi,
I purchased a new build flat in Greater London, it's a duplex, the Consumer Unit is fitted in a cupboard under the stairs, however I have a massive boiler right up against it. So close to the Consumer Unit I can't even see all the labels located on the Consumer Unit, not sure how I would...

Is there anything which could cause a draw in the battery like this ?

Started A job today, concrete ceilings, and was thinking of ways to get the cables from switch to pendant, and thought of chasing the plaster and artex of the ceilings, and glue gunning the cables up and bonding/plastering over, do you think this is do-able? Don't really want to trunk it, thanks
Doing a CU change on a ground floor flat in a bock of low rise flats.
The flat is next to a plant cupboard that houses a cabinet of 1361's with what I think is MICCs (copper covered, two cores) feeding each flat.
It's a TN-S.
The gas meter for the flat is next to the cabinet and bonded to it...
Looking for some thoughts and opinions on this situation.
Looked at a burn out gutted old post office with an above flat needing to be fully rewired with extensive building repairs. The ground floor will be reused as a general office when it reopens.
The D.L.O. head is situated in the post...
Existing supply is 16mm T & CPC to 2nd floor floor flat from ground floor communal CU! Fed via BS1361 60amp, after the incoming mains have been split between 2 meters! Incoming main fuse only 60amp too!
Loop reading @ 2nd floor CU is 0.12 & PFC is 1.87kA respectively!
Bit of an existing mess to...
I have been 'given' a job (friend of friend) to install 6 panels on a flat roof at their property, i have not installed any flat mounting systems as of yet so wondering if anyone can recommend a good kit manufacturer?
Any advice appreciated.
I have been asked to carry out a rewire of a top floor flat when checking the existing supply characteristics.
TN-S with a ZE of 1.24 ohms and PFC of 1.91 KA. 1361 Type 2 with 100 amp Fuse
Should I contact the DNO and ask for them to come and check before commencing work.
Unable to treat...
Being a bit of a numpty when it comes to PV installs, I have a question: I have a flat roof 5m x 4.8m SE facing, Flat to the roof is not so good I know, but I can get away with 12 panels. If I were to use maybe 15 degree mounts I am guessing I could get away with maybe 8 panels.
If only for...
Any ideas on this one?
I am doing a survey/eicr on an intake serving 9 flats belonging to a local housing authority. The cables are early 70's 16mm/6mm T&E run through the building structure. I have assumed the maximum draw is around 30A per flat and checking the Ze values and distance it...
Can anyone recommend a good flat roof solution without penetrating the roof.
I looked at renusol consoles today, however their wind load calculation suggested I needed a ballast of 320kg in each console bucket!
This is for a building that is 30m in height, and in my opinion 44 panels with...
Hi All
I have been asked to look into putting in a CU in a garage that is likely to be converted into a granny flat in the near future. Planning on using 10mm or 16mm SWA cable (buried to 600mm) as no real idea what load is going to be if it is converted so want to take worst case into...

I am a fairly new electrician and recently received a call out from an elderly client who says that on 6 occassions over the last 5 years there have been numerous water leaks transpiring from the flat above hers. She says on at least 3 occassions the water was pouring out from the spotlight...
