Hi Guys
Sorry this is going to seem like a stupid question but I installed a 600 x 600 HF 4 x T8 fitting today and the customer is moaning it's too bright , is there a way of removing a couple of tubes without them all going out ? I always thought if I removed one tube they would all go out...
Hi,
We have recently moved into a new office.
It has ceiling fittings that take two 70W 6 foot fluorescent tubes. The fittings seem to have no visible starter (at least, I can't find one of the traditional type with the twist to lock fitting).
One of these fittings has stopped working. I have...
Hi all,
I've just been to test a number of faults and have found a number of classrooms have relays on fluorescent lights? Can anyone think of a logical reason why someone would have installed them like this?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
firstly I would have posted in the diy forum but I don't have permission. Hopefully someone can advise me though.
We have a fluorescent ceiling pendant light in a recently rewired kitchen. After a few weeks there was a blue spark and bang and the light stopped working. Switching the power...
Hi,
I have removed 2 strip light fittings from the attic ceiling and would be most grateful if anyone could give some advice as to wiring some pendant fittings. The single wire seems straight forward but am not sure what to do with the double wires.
Many thanks
A pair of 5ft single tube fluorescent lamps in a garage which had been there for about 15 years and worked fine. They are on a single switch. They were not bright enough so replaced with two 5FT 58W HIGH FREQUENCY TWIN FLUORESCENT battens.
Easy to wire to the existing cables.
The problem I...
Hi guys
Went to see a job today in a block of flats. It has 60 5ft fluorescent double tubes on 24/7. As you can imagine the owner had a heart attack when he got the bill.
The stairways and entrances are to be kept on permanently but the lights leading to the flats he wants to be pir...

I've been asked to source some replacement prismatic diffusers/covers for some twin 6' Fitzgerald fluorescents. I think I read somewhere online that Fitzgerald had gone bust and their current range certainly doesn't include any fixtures that look like these. They are pretty standard rectangular...
Hi all.
Just looking for some help with dimming 2 x 6ft fl fittings. Only 2 on circuit and standard wiring. Feed and SL at normal switch just now. I asked wholesalers to source me a solution for the customer as he wanted them to be able to be dimmed. They came back saying change 2 ballasts in...
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could explain to me how I would go about, and what I would need to wire a 3 pin UK mains plug to a fluorescent batten ceiling light fitting. I am putting the light on a stand and will be using it portably plugging it into mains wall sockets.

Hi guys,
I'm pricing a job for a customer who wants a fluorescent in his garage, but has asked for a price for an equivalent LED fitting. Denmans do a 5 foot LED for about 85 quid, but I'm wondering what the light output is like compared to an equivalent fluorescent.
I've not used one of...

So I was wiring my first set of fluorescent lights today (Ansell, 49W per strip, double units so 98W per fixture) and wired in parallel (switch wire to the first set of doubles then to the next fixture, four strips in total) so the lines/neutrals/CPCs were connected in the first fixture then to...

Hello folks,
I hope the picture shows ok. If it does not show, then basically there is a blue disc approx 25mm in diameter that may have a resistor or something in it. It is approx 4mm ' thick'.
The blue disc is linking between neutral and earth on the fitting. Never noticed these before...
