Hi all,
I have been asked by a local community centre for some advice changing some faulty 6ft strip lights to LED. As far as I can see 6ft LED tubes are Twice as expensive as replacing a ballast and tube but half the wattage (i.e. half the running costs).
does anyone have any experience with...
Just a quick one.
And I right in thinking I would take N/E from CU in shed to first fitting, take L from CU (with an E from fitting) all the way to switch, run switch L back to fitting and then just Dasiy L/N/E to next fitting?
not a lot of info on the web and didn't cover fluorescent fittings...

I recently fitted 2 58w twin vapour-proof switch-start fittings in a garage with a low ceiling, customer complained of loud humming noise coming from fitting. Had fitting replaced but still happening. Wholesalers said its a common thing caused by the ballast, can anybody add to this?
Hello guys, I went and viewed a job today. The shop has 32 double battens divided into 5 15 amp breakers. The wiring is a nightmare. With the switches arcing and burning smell of the switches. Isolated switch with problem as that somehow is interconnected with another 4 mcb's. Just wanted to...

currently I'm to sure if the original fitting have individual ballasts or a combined ballast for both lamps. However I think the picture ballast should work.

I was wondering how much, or if any fault current fluorescent light fittings produce, it's just that I have 16 to fit in one area and was wondering If protecting them all with one 30ma rcd and separate mcb's would cause nuisance tripping.
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me where I in the reg's, if anywhere it states whether a multiplier of 1.8 should be used for calculating the design current of fluorescent lighting loads?

Thanks again.

Hi everyone,
I’m sure this may have been done already, but there is a debate I have with colleagues about the best type of downlighter to install, and in turn the best type of lamp to use in the fitting, and I’d like to put the debate to bed once and for all.
The way I see it is as...
