Hi,

I know that on new installs the glands used on Exe joint boxes must be certified Exe or Exe/Exd glands.
My question is on existing Ex installations prior to 2007 was it permitted to use a CW gland swa gland on armoured cables?
cheers

Hello, i have this old bit of audio equipment from the early 50's and it needs a detachable mains lead to power it which i don't have. Below i have added a picture of it. Could someone tell me the name of the type of connector / lead i need and possibly where i could get one. Many Thanks!
Hiyaa,
Finished day 1 of my AM2 today. Completed all the install apart from the heating systems and the SY cable to the motor. Everything else is done.
anyway, I came todo my SY gland and realised the gland we have been given looks more like an SWA gland and this is definitely the one we are...
Does anyone know where these are available? I seem to remember seeing them and I have a job where the box I am going through is deep enough not to allow the nut to do up with the banjo.
Hi there good evening chaps.
just wondering if anyone could help me out with some info on terminating SY cable using the proper glands. I have my am2 next week and although I have done the pre am2 and watched the video on YouTube I'm still a little confused. Because on the video the guy says to...
Got to make off some 6mm 5 core SWA, 19mm OD & 15mm dia inner sheath, looked at lots of tables but none cover 6mm 5 core gland sizes. It's going to be a 20L or 25 but can't find out what the max diameter will go through a 20L, anyone know?
PCW outdoor type needed.
How many things can you find in this picture? Its a 6mm T&E leaving the house to fed a garage via a 2.5mm SWA. I gave up counting at 11 faults, can you list them?
OK I'll give you the first two because its not very clear in the pic.
Missing cable support (clips) on both the 2.5mm and the SWA.
Got one for a job, from cef.
connected bw gland 20mm into top centre face.
Went to fit faceplate and isn't designed to accept gland in from top. Utter rubbish.
Morning
Its been a while since I last terminated SWA and have come up against a problem.
I have prepared the cable, and got to the point of installing the gland, my problem is I cant get the cone body part and clamping collars to screw together, thread wont bite.
The parts are fine when the...
Hi all,I've got one of these to fit and although it comes with an ip rated fitting I'm curious to know if it's best practice to fit it this way?
I have several lengths of good swa off cuts from my previous work and gland kits to suit but I'll be powering the lamp from upstairs which will mean...
Hi All,
I recently installed a new dist. board with 95mm sq 4 core swa cable. I used 35mm sq earthing cable even though I should have used roughly half the size of the live conductor. I used this because I had it, and was hoping it will be ok. I now fear that the cross section of the cpc...
Hi all,
Been to look at a job in a chalet. Nice shiny 16mm earth from the CU to an earth terminal, sh**e 4mm oxidized to f*** from the terminal to the armour of the incoming, looped to the 'loop out' SWA going onto the next chalet (sorry, didn't take a photo). Anyway, the site owner has said...
Found this at work, looks like they'd run out of SWA glands...
I remember using them in the 70's, Henley glands? used for cable with a spiral metal sheath which I haven't seen for years, don't know if it's still used?.
Electromagnetic effects upon cables both single and three phase cables upon entering a metal distribution board. this was picked up on a periodic test and inspection on a small block of flats. This has caught me out and i cant think of what causes this or the implications, any ideas ????
