I'm renovating an old cottage which includes replacing the kitchen.
Currently the fuse box is at ceiling height about 920mms above the drainer side of the sink unit. Is it against the regs to have a fuse box above the sink unit? Was thinking of relocating the sink anyway but it would be useful...

But the other sparky has asked me to install fan isolator switches at 2010mm (top of box) and for the storage heaters...

Hi all,
Just curious;
I know the general height of a socket is 450mm to bottom but if it was lower (say 300 mm to bottom) would this be picked up by building control in a new extension (not new build) or is it just a case of using common sense providing appliances can be plugged in safely...
Hi all,
From what I understand the switches of a consumer unit have to be at 1200mm. The old consumer unit is way up high out of reach in the electric / Gas cupboard but the placement of it allows access from the doorway standing on the floor as there is a difference in height of floor levels...
Got an office to fit dado trunking around, Just wondering if someone has a magic number hight wise for the trunking as no office furniture is there yet. I could take an educated guess I know but just checking in case someone knows better.
Thanking you.
Hi all,
I haven't done a new build for a while but I was speaking to another electrician the other day who told me that fuseboards fall into the 450mm - 1200mm height band for disables access.
Is this correct?
Replacing a dis board at a house its 6ft up inside a cupboard . What height does this have to be for the new board ?
Do i have to lower it for part M ?
I`m using this for one of my assessment jobs so i want it to be right
All answers appreciated ( even the smug ones )

Went to price a re wire yesterday and the electrician has told the customer that he needs to chase them into the wall at a height of 450mm 1200mm to building regs. The installation is in an existing dwelling and are on the skirting boards which is to low to get a plug in. I have advised them to...
