HI Folks.
This is my first post so apologies if it's in the wrong location.
I recently installed a 3kw Solar system with an iboost diverter which diverts electrical power to the dual elements (3kw and 2kw) on the water cylinder when there is an excess of power.
I recently discovered that a...
Hi Guys, Can anyone suggest where I can purchase a 4 Kw / 230v immersion element as in photo 1000mm in length. I have not come across one like it, or maybe it is a de-constructed element from a triple element unit. 3 are used for heating water in a Large ST/Steel vat. Any help would be much...
Have just got back from a call out, where the clients' immersion had stopped working. The problem is the separate thermal safety cutout has failed open circuit, and cannot be reset. It is very similar to the setup in this youtube vid:
I would like to replace the thermostat with one with an...
I've been troubleshooting Immersion heater faults for as long as I can remember
2 things I'm beginning to say to customers
If it's tripping the rcd it's almost certainly faulty,i always check but it's invariably faulty
Don't buy the cheap copper heater get the incaloy or titanium
Hi there, I realise that this subject may have been done before but all the threads I am looking at are 5 yrs old or more so would be interested in an update..
I have been asked by a customer to fit one of these and am looking at options, the customer is getting on a bit so anything too...
Customer complained of hot water running out quickly. Water cylinder has 2 elements in it, tested the top one, between live and neutral on low ohms. Got 19.2 ohms, tested the bottom one and got greater than 999, I’m assuming this is a faulty element
How do i go about changing the hours in which my immersion heater charges? Its on 2:15-7:15 at the moment but we dont need 5 hours charge , any help would be great
Hi Quick question as I can’t seem to find the regulation in the BBB.
Carried out an EICR and found the load for the water tank was wired in 2.5 t and e.
On testing the circuit I couldn’t see a thermal cut out. Could you help me out with the appropriate regs regarding these observations.
Thanks...
Hi All, my flat has Off-Peak and Peak power supply and the hot water is produced via 2 immersion heaters, the bottom element is fed by the Off-Peak supply and the top one by peak (24hr) supply. As immersion heaters have a limited life span, I'd like to have more control of the Off Peak element...
Hi guys
Customer had no hot water (house has no gas, electric only)
The immersion is on an fcu with timer straight to a 18inch element.
I replaced the element after testing for a good 230v supply across live and neutral and to earth.
the customer has must phoned to say it’s still not heating...
So what do you guys do with the smoke/heat alarm circuit? Do you put them on their own or with the lighting?
I would of thought if it is put on its own and it trips people wont even bother to fix it. Also if it did trip they wouldn't realise till the battery goes low and starts beeping...
Qualified electrician here but doing some DIY with regards to moving our intercom from the front door to our new driveway gates. Is there a particular, more rugged type of 8-core you can by that is okay with immersion in water etc. Our builders positioned flexible conduit in strategic positions...
Hi

Hi all, looking for some advice. I very quickly looked at a job in an apartment block. It has a normal dual rcd board in and a, what i assume is an off peak board. The off peak is an old rewireable fuse type. It would appear that at some point there has been storage heaters in but now there is...
Hi, I'm looking to add a bathroom pump. I'm wondering where I can get the power from? The spur pictured is feeding an immersion heater. The pump to be fitted currently has a socket but unfortunately its under 3m from the bath. Bit stuck so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi all, not really come across too many immersion heaters on my travels. Looking for a bit advice with this one I take it this has no thermal cut out and so should be coded as a C2? Many thanks in advance chaps.
I've just rewired my old I.H. and it seemed to be working fine although it was quite noisy. Something tripped the RCD last night and I suspect it was that. Now there is nothing - No noise at all. I don't have the meters to test it unfortunately. Is it likely that it's packed up completely with...
Hi.

Put new St/St tank in loft to replace old square one with lift up lid.
Immersion heater worked fine on old one with short heater on 13A fused switch.
