I read carefully BS7671, 17th ed., 521.9 and guidance note 1, Table F3 and F5, and no where does it say that flexible cords, such as HO7RN-F can not be used for fixed installations. I hear that was not allowed in the 15th edition but long since allowed. Am I missing something?
I'm interested to hear others procedures and if it is actually ever done but when you are adding new circuits to existing installations what is your procedure.
1) Do you ever assess the existing demand, do you carry out load monitoring to determine if the existing supply can take the increased...
I'm looking for a Hex crimper only to be used for domestic installations, so in theory the max I would need to crimp is 16mm.
Most crimpers only go up to 6mm, then a second set for bigger crimps. Can you get a single set that will allow me to crimp fine wires and upto 16mm?
similarily, what...
Hi All
I was just hoping someone could give me some advice on old installations (guessing 1950s and before) where a bare earth wire runs from point to point alongside normal 2 core cable.
I've come across this twice now. One time whilst ripping it out for a rewire.
I guess the practical...

I have to do a Condition Report for an old installation. Everything is ok but the installation doesn't have RCD's, even for those circuits required by the 17th Edition. Can I write that the installation is "satisfactory" without RCD's ?

Hi Guys
I have recently passed C&G 2394/95, does this mean I am no able to sign off installations and issue certificates? For example a friend of mine has asked if I can test and issue a certificate for a house he wants to rent out. Do I need to be registered with someone like jib?
Many thanks
