hi, just want to confirm I have got this right. If I am doing a insulation resistance test on a ring circuit and it has fixed equipment then a soft test at 250v is required and the socket switches in the on position.
cheers
Hi all
Recently changed a consumer unit , adding new radial, bonding etc for my initial assessment, IR tested everything initially and before been terminated in new board, all readings ok.
I'm sure I've read that if it is a new installation that the board as a whole need testing?
My...
Any feedback on this would be handy.
If you have a property that has a lot of lamps etc.. that are too much to remove to carry out a insulation resistance test why does it work that connecting the line and neutral together and testing between the two and earth.
Can someone explain.
Hi
I am aware that test 2 at 250v with L+N joined is recommended where there is a risk of damaging sensitive equipment.
What I admit I don't really understand is why test 2 is not used in all cases:confused:
Can anyone please explain why/when test 1 is necessary?
Before I get my head...
hello everyone, does anyone know whether an insulation resistance test 500v on a installation will damage the rcd/rcbo s, is it wise to test the whole installation toghether rather than individual circuits, for example testing the whole installion with a dual rcd board,
cheers
Hello Everyone,
I am required to test my practical assessment soon and notice that my consumer unit has three RCBOs fitted.
There is a neutral wire and a cpc (beige) fitted from each RCBO. Am l required to remove these for an insulation resistance test which is 500V and may damage the RCBO...
i tryed doing a insulation resistance test but the metter reading comes out at 0.00 even if i clip the test leads together and press test still reads 0.00 is the tester nakerd?
I have a simple one way lighting circuit that serves one fluroescent tube. there is a single jb up in the roof. now when tested here i get a reading of >1999 Mohms for the insulation resistance test on the individual cables. but when connecte together i get 376Mohms at the junction box and...
looking for some help
when testing jobs i find it hard to do IR testing due to appliances pluged in at back off tills, counters, shelfs, sockets above celings ,cctv that icannot get in to un plug . i dont want to damage anything doing this test i do all the other test that should be carried out...
hey, could some explain how to do an insulation test, to niceic Test standards, of how you should do it when YOUR being assesed. correct procedures, aimed at those whos just done it and passed ;) cheers
Trying to understand how the insulation resistance test works
this is how I think it works, i maybe right or maybe wrong?????????
bascially, your shorting circuiting neutrel and phase.
Sending 500v down the cable (If no voltage no current)
So the tester sends out a current, then reads the...
