The regs on where you can and cant drill holes in joists are quite clear, but what about if rewiring for a material change of use where new regs must apply? Would it be okay to rewire through holes which no longer comply? The holes in question are closer than 0.25 of the span to the wall.....but...

does anyone know if any company does a drill that drills at a angle ie when trying to drill through joists under a floor the drill hits another joist and if you try to drill in the middle of the joist it will come out lower on the other side.your thoughts

When running lighting cables in the loft space, they can be clipped to the side of the joists no problem. When the cable then needs to be run at right angles to the joists, is it best pratice to drill the joists to pass the cable through or run over the top of them.

I normally use the safe zones, but this isn't possible as its like an all glass byfold door type extension.
