TNCS, earth leakage clampmeter on the main earthing conductor from service head to the MET reads 67mA when the main DP switch is off, am i picking this current up from the combined Earth/Neutral in the head?, it cant be an installation leak as the...
might be having a blonde moment here, but.... if an installation has earth leakage, could this be measured with an earth leakage clamp meter on the main earthing conductor and/or the main bonding conductors as logically, if there is leakage , you would expect the current to travel to earth...

Hi all,
Just a heads-up really - Sibert are now pleased to be able to represent Doepke products so if you have any requirements for Type A or Type B RCDs, garage CUs or MCBs etc then we can now support your requirements.

I have just read the document produced by SMA on the subject of type B RCDs with their TL inverters. Section 4 states: "All SMA inverters with transformer and all transformerless SMA inverters mentioned in the following are not capable of feeding DC residual currents to the grid due to the...
I have recently had problems with 3 different RCDs but the problem with each was similar. I was called out to sort trip trouble on an RCD (30mA) in a house, client claming that a chainsaw (class 2) kept triping RCD, however no fault was found. Also the RCD pased all normal tests (trip times and...
Hi Looking at a minor works job in a flat, board which isn't split has a BS4293 RCCB as a main switch fed from an Earth leakage trip. I know both are obsolete and the SSC for the RCCB is 1500A. Am I right saying I can't just remove the earth leakage trip and replace the RCCB with a BS61008 as...
testing a house today before I put RCD protection on it and i got 300mA earth leakage. appox 100mA from the sockets, 180mA on the downstairs lighting circuit, then 20 odd mA accross the rest of the circuits.

I am not an electrician but would nevertheless understand what the normal procedure is to test earth leakage / isolate an earth leakage problem.
One way is to switch all the switches off at the main DB board, switch them on one by one and see which one triggers the earth leakage circuit...
