I want to invest in one of these, it's primary function will be for me to measure the mA on circuits where IT is in use, it seems they can be useful to determine where a fault might be on a circuit, I would be greatful for you opinions on these options. What i can't quite fathom and hoping...
got a call on Saturday to say the newish washing machine is blowing the trip. when i had nosey around swapping leads and whatever i tried still tripping when starts a cycle.

Hi all,
Cam across a tripping 63A RCD, which is protecting pretty much everything in an office and even the lighting!
The first guy who came out seemed to think that perhaps a spur feeding a AC unit was the culprit and proceeded to change it over, but I didn't really see the point in that.
I...
Hi everyone
I am new to this board and would firstly like to say hello to everyone and to keep up the good work, this place is like a hidden vault for knowledge.
I've been asked a bit of a curveball question form my friend who is a building contractor.
An installation that he completed 4...
I Need a little help i recently fitted a new consumer unit for a mate. The house is empty and up for sale so i thought no problem as not in a hurry continuity was ok on all circuits IR ok ,Ze 0.09,PFC 2.95kA so i changed the board then powered up and the 80a 30Ma RCD tripped i disconnected each...
Hi
I hope someone can help.
I am testing a 1920s semi (my own).
I have come across a radial circuit (supplying socket outlets) which, when supposedly isolated (mcb off and all cables free), is still showing 37 volts LE LN.
I have found that the voltage is reduced to zero by switching off one of...

Two jobs both identical with panels and invertors ect. Ie: Aurora 3.6 TL , 14 panels 235w. Both using Wylex garage boards 16amp mcb and 63a 30ma RCD 4mm T&E. One starts up and works no problem the one next door trips RCD. Done all checks and test all ok. Invertor goes through start up all ok...
Hello
Can anybody tell about touch leakage testing and when it should be done. We have a seaward europa plus unit that seems to divert to touch testing when we are testing class 2 items. Any info on this would be great.

I tested a washing mashine today and it failed the leakage test.
What it the relationship of this test to an insulation test?
It gave a reading of 0.76mA
The insulaton test was good with >20M Mohms
amd earth continuity was ok too.
Any insight would be nice please.
Hi there
Just finished a 2500w 10 panel installation with a SMA2500HF inverter. Its a TT installation with a 30ma RCD main switch - old Square D board.
Every time I power up the inverter, the RCD trips even with all the other circuits off. I performed a ramp test and the RCD trips at 18ma, a...
An old fuse board with only 4 fuses 1 5amp, 1 15amp and 2 30amp fuses has a VOEL CB as the ADS for the whole board. I was adding to an outside circuit, one more light, using SWA cable and whisker boxes for a junction.
When I came to testing, I was not sure how to test VOL CB. I have a Metrel...
Have just got a Di-log 6507 and it works fine. An electrician friend suggested we get one to help identify an EL problem we have been experiencing (slight tingle) in a copper hot water pipe coming from the unvented stainless cylinder. Question is this: It is clearly showing a current in the...

Hi chaps,
Looking to purchase the above and wondered what your thoughts were on the Di-logs or Kew techs?
I dont really want to spend a fortune, so a couple of hundred quid is about max.
Cheers.
