Found while doing an EICR today - see picture.
OK- its just outside Zone 1 by a few mm, but the storage rad circuits are not RCD protected and there's no supplementary bonding in the bathroom.
I disconnected it, then got told "it doesn't work anyway" ..... I guess it got wet!
However, worse...
Need a little advice please guys!
My wife is a dog groomer and she wants me to set up our 8ft x 8ft wooden shed as a grooming salon. That's ok but she also wants to be able to be able to 'bath' the dogs in there as well, using a 'booster bath'.
She says she would also needs some sockets, which...
Just want to put this out there for a feedback and to the Mod's.
I want to suggest that on the posts anyone submits we have our country of origin or country you are based in, this will clear alot of guess work and wasted posts as well as misguided advice as Electrical reg's, voltages etc vary...
Guys, if youve got time I wouldnt mind a brief opinion of this finding from this morning before I write it up.
Lighting circuit no cpc from about halfway, all metal fittings earthed before the break then no continuity into bedroom and bathroom/ all roses and class two fitted from that point...
Have I got this right?; If adding a couple of lighting points to an exisiting circuit and the fuse board contains rewireable fuses, I need to provide RCD protection because of the addition (cables not more than 50mm deep). New CU or seperate RCD unit for that circuit? Just trying clear...
As my family seem completely incabable of turning the bathroom light off, I want to install a time delay switch (like those you get in stairwells in flats etc.) Does anyone know of one that can be easily overridden if someone goes for a bath. (PIR wouldn't work as switch is on the landing).
Has anyone experience and pitfalls of the time and information required to apply for a G83/1-2
i have a client wishing to install 4 ground mounted systems near cottages he has.
They are all fed from the same transformer and there is no other PV systems on that transformer
Each cottage has an...
ive been pondering if a utility room with a sink & toilet come under the requirements of a special location ,surely it does ?? i just wonder why part 7 of regs doesnt mention anything about risk of shock near water for somewhere like a utility room containing a sink.
Just wondered if anyone had...
Hi, does anybody have any experience or views about these panels. Other than the company's website, there seems to be little additional information available.
Hi
I wanted to see if anyone has any question or answers on the new EICR forms.
I will start with, Does anyone know what "location reference" means in the schedule of inspections?
Does an inverter need to be close to the consumer unit and does it have to actually connect into the CU? I'm hoping to install it in the garage to avoid a very hot loft, but the CU is inside the house in a fairly inaccessible location whilst the meter and company fuse are on the garage wall...
I'm doing an EICR at the moment for a family member, so most of the remedials are being done as the defects are discovered.
As such, it's gone up to 100% sampling because of what's been found.
The bathroom is upstairs, but the pull cord isolator for the shower is mounted on the WALL.... in the...
Hi guys. Pricing a job for a multiple occupancy site. It's around 25 apartments with a 1kWp system on each one. All the apartments have their own CU (hate to state the obvious) and run back to the same main supply point. Just to be able to give a rought quote I was wondering if we'd run each...
Hi guys, I've had a new kitchen built, and have had new ring and cooker points fitted by an Elecsa registered electrician. The cooker and hob isolating switches have been installed on the wall about 12" from floor height, and intended to be accessable by opening a drawer in the new kitchen, and...
Can anyone confirm or deny that the fused spur used to isolate the boiler and all associated controls has to be local to the boiler. It makes sense that it should be, but I haven't seen it specified on any of the wiring schematics. All the schematics that I have found still suggest that the...
Hi folks, replacement high integrity CU going in. Existing CU has bell transformer and customer wants bell transformer in new CU as well. Question is, what is best position in CU? Dont want to eat up the high integrity positions, so ok to provision in an RCD protected position? I know it's not...
The default locations for sunny design 2 are pretty limited. I'm planning an install near Taunton and closest area is Plymouth. Does any one know how I can add a location so the weather info for Taunton is used?
Thank you
I'm considering a Solar PV system on a property in an exposed location in the Pennines. We've had regular instances of tiles being lifted and displaced on our (concrete tile) roof by the winds we get here so a critical part of the installation is ensuring the panels dont get twisted, or ripped...
going to install an extractor fan in a shower room, the client wants to install it just over the shower, i normally install it above the toilet, is there any regs on this? or just install it anywhere you want?
cheers
Hi there,
When moving the socket location from skirting to a new location above do l have to RCD protect the circuit. Assuming l will be crimping an additional length of 2.5 so it can reach the new location also assuming the circuit is currently not RCD protected.
Thanks
