hello all could anyone help me i am doing my 2392 and i am a little stuck i have been asked a question which is using the following measured value of loop impedance 0.5 (40amp bs en 60898 type b mcb) ferfering to the maxium tabulated value given 1.15 show by calculation if the measured value is...
Hello!
After years of renting I'm currently in the process of purchasing our first property. We've had an offer accepted on a 1 bedroom flat in Surrey. However there are questions over the electrics, and knowing little about electrical wiring I'm a bit stumped on how bad the electrics are and...
Hello.
I'm in the final stages of completing my electrician course, and I find myself confused (again) by EFLI.
In the textbook provided is this:
Uo 230V
see below for each circuit.
Calculate the maximum Zs for each circuit:
Complete the table.
The answers given in the textbook are said to...
Being doing a domestic bathroom refurb', lighting, altering shower circuit (have a Megger 1730 MFT).
History, property has no RCD protection, but as it was a Hager CU, had contemplating using RCBO's (TN-C-S supply). Before doing any work, I decided to clamp the meter tails, as the property has...
Working on a job today which included a very simple new lighting circuit.
The lighting circuit a very short run from a distribution board to a single switch position, which then supplies a single luminaire.
The customer wanted a dimmer switch to control the fitting.
To crack on and perform the...
Hello
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum area to post this in, apologies if it isn't...
I've been working through some mock questions on-line, and found myself confused by this:
The measured value of loop impedance for a circuit is 0.83ohm.
If the temperature at the time of the test was...
Hello :)
I'm confused about EFLI which I am guessing should be relatively straight-forward.
I can't get my tired brain to figure out how to calculate the value for EFLI on system-side circuits?
eg:
what should the actual calculated value be for a 40A circuit, and how do I get that figure...
Hello all,
I am studying to be an electrician but outside of the classroom I have little experience.
A friend has bought a house and during the buying process had an eicr with unsatisfactory result.
Reading the report it shows the ring and shower circuit to have high earth loop impedance.
I...
Iv been given the scenario:
6 circuit earth fault loop impedance values were recorded. Each circuit has type B cb.
referring to the maximum values, show by calculation if these values are acceptable.
so I can't do zs =ze+R1/R2 because they've not provided me with ze.
doing some research it...
How does earth fault loop impedance and disconnect time requirements change for 3phase 3 wire 230 volt systems where the phase to earth voltage is 133 volts instead of 230 volts?
Another question - :smile5:
When did the use of loop impedance testers first come about?
I tried to google it , but cannot find a definite answer, came up with an LCR meter though?
So how would you know the Ze before they came freely available and I guess affordable - just by enquiry at...
Hi everone,I am new to the forum and think its brilliant,I am currently
studying for my 2394&2395 and am testing everything in sight with a
fluke 1651 multi functional tester. When i try to do a loop test on a lighting
circuit,I follow all the instuctions,but i keep getting >2000 ohms,i am...
My test meter only works on 230v....
So... Is there a way of working out the Earth fault loop impedance on a 110v supply that is supplied by a hardwired 110v Centre tapped to earth transformer?
Anyone else come across this.
I have some additional 110v sockets to fit in a workshop but need to...
im bulding my first tool kit so i was browsing round for a socket tester and this came up. and it got me thinking how useful would the loop test even be. and wouldnt these need a calibration etc Martindale EZ150 E-Ze check Xtra Non-Trip Earth Loop Impedance Socket Tester | eBay
Hi all,
I am hoping someone can clarify if my understanding on earth fault loop impedance testing is correct.
A low efli is needed so a protective decive can operate in the required time, the lower the z the quicker it will operate.
ZE= External resistance from borad to supply, board...
Hi,
Excuse my ignorance.
I have a electrical panel with a 240v ac to 24 v dc rectifier. The outgoing circuit breaker is 63amp as the 24v d will be stepped up by a power supply unit in the next panel.
Is an earth loop impedance test required for the 24 v dc supply?
Thanks
Hopefully someone can answer this query for me.
I'm more used to domestic installations but have taken on a job in a workshop. The workshop is around 80m away from the intake which is a 3 phase TN-C-S supply. The workshop is new but I'm using an existing 16mm 4 core SWA cable. I'm using the...
Hi everybody,
I have encountered a problem with EFL (Zs) testing a couple of times recently.
I have had unusually high readings for the length of circuit and earthing system type and the increase in impedance seems to be coming from resistance across the line pole of the RCD in the consumer...
