Hi there,
Would any of you fine people have an easily editable Minor works certificate, Possibly in excel.
I need to edit one to put additonal tables etc into this and any help would be much appreciated
Hi all,
I'm doing some work for a small company that produces electric vehicle charging points designed for on-street use, nothing domestic/dwelling/building related. Couple of questions if you could spare the time!
1. They are hiring some maintenance people to carry out basic repairs. They...
Hi all, I am new to the forum, just passed my 18th edition but was working in different industry for a number of years. I have 2 questions that am hoping some of you experts out there can help with, all based on domestic works:
1) If I move a socket about a metre on the same wall do I need to...
Hi guys just looking for a bit of clarification.
Im about to start a job in a kitchen thats being renovated and theres a couple of electrical alterations. A new cooker + hob replaced like for like, and an old switched spur on a radial circuit that controlled a heater is being made into a single...
Hi there,
Quick question about a MWC. What is the general practice in case you do an addition to an existing RFC, in this case adding 4 spot lights in bathroom to a radial first floor light circuit or adding a socket to a what is supposed to be ring final. But then you realise there are some...
Hi all I work in temporary events, mainly concert touring. I have completed BS7909 training and am electrically competent.
I have been doing video and power for live events for the last 10 years and luckily enough am quite sought after, However due to Covid19 my industry is very much on hold...
HI so I have been asked to do the electrics for a loft conversion in a bungalow, it is minimal work 2 sockets a light and a smoke all of which will be coming of a current circuit so no new circuits. does this mean I can just issue a minor works certificate ?
thanks
Just done a little kitchen rewire, onto the testing, minor works.
Dead tests are fine, all ok. Power on.
Tried to do ELI... main rcd trips. Check tester, set to no trip... strange. Screen comes up with “trip”
Tried rcd test. Again, trips with same message... doesn’t give me a ms reading. Tried...
Hi,
I was having an disagreement with a work mate, a client has been told that their bonding (gas) is in the wrong place, (it is).
This is the only job we have to do there and obviously after moving it and carrying out the required continuity tests, would you issue a minor works certificate...
If you’re on a job which involves things like just replacing light fittings and odds and sods on different circuits for the same client, is there a MWC that can cater for more than one set of circuit tests rather than doing separate certs for each circuit?
Had one of those days with niggling little scrapes and cuts. Started off with some how piercing the end of my thumb with a very short piece of SWA armour. Don’t know how the hell it happened but would have provided a good blood sample aka like those finger ----- tests. Later on cut a very nice...
New circuits. Ra of 229 Ohms therefore the rcds are for fault protection by design. Zdb of 0.29 (10mm gas bond) so are the rcds classed as additional protection?
Good evening,
A burning question has arisen in my mind regarding minor works certificates.
This is, if you do some work for a customer which involves say adding some additional lights to an existing lighting circuit, as well as an outdoor light spurred and fused off of a ring main. Would you...
Changed 4 way hook up box with individual 16A RCBOs in box,
Part 1 is description of works all good
Part 2 is earthing and bonding yes
Part 3 Circuit details so this is what feeds the box? And the fuse/mcb
Part 4 is test results for circuit altered or extended so these are my results for feed...
If a like for like change is done but it's not in compliance with the new regs is a risk assessment always required?
Also where does the "like for like" terminology come from?
I use my own MEIWC that I based on the NICEIC's version below:
Can someone confirm if the NICEIC are using the same certificate or if it has changed due to the 18th edition.
Also if it has changed, please could someone upload a scan on the newer version for me to use as a template.
thanks
I think I may have asked this question a while ago but not sure on what the answer was and it's come up again at our monthly tool box talk.
When doing a Minor works for an additional spurred socket or extra light fitting on a circuit, should the R1+R2 measurement be taken from the protective...
So I am currently registered with the NICEIC as a domestic installer, but I need to fill in a minor works for adding a spur to an existing ring as a dental surgery.
As I can't do this via NICEIC, can I download a model form, fill that in and give it to the client?
I've seen a couple of model...

Just a quick one.. I have been to a job today where the shower isolator switch had burnt out, as it wasn't RCD protected I replaced the switch with a 1 way consumer unit with an RCD.
My question is..do I need to do a full EIC or would a minor works do?
Cheers
