I got an emergency callout today from a theatre i do a lot of work for. they had lost power to their stage lighting systems. after a visual inspection the neutral bar of the isolator has melted a lot and the cable discolored and brittle. obviously there is the fault!
i was thinking about just...
Domestic PIR (TN-S, 60A MAIN, 16MM EARTH, MAIN BONDING 6MM). Neutrals on end to end test at a S/O give zero ohms, Live gives 0.30 ohms & cpc gives 2.7 ohms at same S/O. I'm thinking that if this is a ring then the Neutral is loose somewhere on this cct. Any advice please - i may be overlooking...
This is a 2 way 2 gang dimmer switch, which has feed in/out, and 2 switched lives and neutrals. So 4 neutrals blocked in a connector block, which was then put behind the switch as there was no room inside (only a 25 mm back box used), and the feeds had to blocked as 'the installer' could not get...
Hi all
In the board changes i have done i have never come across a borrowed neutral on a lighting circuit, how common is this and between what years was this practice done .
Richard
Doing a PIR lately and found no continuity on one of the ring final neutral circuits. I am not familiar with fault finding and would appreciate any help and hints. IR test on the circuit passed.
As the title suggests

Went to a job today, twin and earth, and it had been wired 2 plate, which of course meant that all the switches had the neutral taken to them.
WTF, if I had done that in my apprenticeship I would have been kicked off site.
Is this how things are done now, god I hope not.

Please help out this poor uneducated American Electrician, in the states we can run whats called a multi-wire branch circuit, where we can run two or three lives and share one neutral. Im told in the UK its not done, I've looked in 7671 for this regulation but cannot seem to find it.
Hi guys
