easy peasy wiring....i never used to do it, but now seems common practice...I was intending to use dp grid switches...but now ahhh, we want dimmers . No probs with the rotary dimmers but a neutral connected in the backbox. Is that bad pactice?
Hi , I know this has been covered before but i'm still unsure and concerned about nuisance RCD tripping after replacing a consumer unit if there are borrowed neutrals , especially on the lighting circuits.
Last time i posted regarding this I was left confused as there were many different...
Hi , Can someone tell me how to test for borrowed neutrals prior to fitting a new Consumer Unit (To avoid any problems when fitting RCD's)
I am aware that a lot of the time borrowed neutrals are evident on the lighting circuits (especially two way stair circuits).
Exactly how would you test...
hi everyone. new to this. just carrying out a pir on a pub, and when looking at the d/b wiring, the neutrals/cpc etc dont marry up to the breakers. on the pir can i just limit doing a ring final test and code it or will have to persevere and find the right cables. as its a pub up and running i...
Hi all
Replaced 3 old fuseboards today with a Wylex HI CU, customer just bought the property and didn't want a PIR just replace the board, I warned of the possible pitfalls of which he accepted.
On removing old boards did a quick IR test between CPC and phase & neutral joined together on...
i need to 2 way existing circuit ,has been looped at switch .if i add strapper cable as norm does feed in go to l1 and feed out to l2 adding strappers as norm and link neutrals together on feed in/out
how do, can anyone tell me about a lighting circuit that has neutrals in a terminal block at the light switch?
how does it work and how would you add to it?
thanks
Just completed a rewire on a old house, when looking at the unit, all the lighting circuits seemed to have 2 fuses per circuit, one live and one for the neutral. i ad heard of this before but never actually seen it, until last week. can any one shed any light on why this was done???
on changing fuse boards has anyone got a sucssesful method of testing for borrowed neutrals before changing ?
finding probs on changing boards then to find borrowed neutrals on two way lighting on stairs and wall lights
thanks for any feedback !

Tested a kitchen ring today and got continuity on Line, Earth but not neutrals. Tester wouldn't give reading on R1 + R2 but everything else (Ins res, Zs, RCD trip time etc) was in order. Got 230v at each socket outlet and think I know where the problem lies (buried in wall with a brand new...
