Bathroom fan and light switch

Hi, I have a fan in my bathroom which has two wires to the pull switch they are both red, i want to remove the pull switch and wire to my light switch. The light switch has three wires red,black and green. my house s approx 17years old is this possible to do. do i need a new light switch. both...

can i get 2 gang switch 1 fused and 1 normal ?

Hi all is it possible to get a 2 gang switch with one being a fused spur switch and the other being normal ? or do they have to be seperate ? i cant find one but wondered if anyone else knew of one ? thanks Jack

dimmers

i bought a 1000 watt dimmer for an installation and when i came to test i was getting a rediculously high r1+r2 (about 8ohms). after checking all connections i changed the dimmer for a normal switch test readng was fine 0.3ohms. does anyone else have probs like this with dimmers. before any one...

Two way two wire switching

We have come across an installation with only two core cable supplying both switches, the earth is not used and only common and l1 are used on both switches. Can anybody supply a diagram of the wiring of such a system?

Outside Light With PIR

Guys A quick question, I have an outside light controlled with a switch inside, iI has sensor fitted which works. However when I switch the light on from the switch it flashes on and goes off once amd then the sensor works fine is this a loose connection or is it a timing issue?? Also...

Fused spurs in kitchen

Hi all, Is it good practice in a new kitchen install to have fused spurs for each appliance, (washing machine, fridge, dishwasher)? If so, would they be 13A fuses? Thanks. Nick

Is this normal way of fitting a main isolation switch?

Had a mains isolation switch fitted (meter>dp switch>temporary cu unit) but I thought being a dp switch both live and neutral should be connected to the switch not just the live? Does anyone know why he'd have installed it this way with the separate neutral box, doesn't it defeat the point of...

Neutral is a circuit conductor that may carry current in normal operation

Ground and neutral - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Neutral may carry current in a conductor during normal operation? This confuses me. I thought that your neutral always carried current, that without it, you wouldn't have a complete circuit. What does this mean? Thanks in advance.

smoke alarms vunerable to ir test?

hey all!! would a smoke alarm circuit be vunerable or give out false readings on the live insulation resistance test? or is it worth me just connecting the lives and testing to earth? well and the interconnecter. cheers all :)

mk narrow kitchen sockets?

what would a normal sparky charge just to replace a socket, because the kettle plug has managed to weld it's self on the socket (double). ??

Anyone use a normal car for domestic work?

Ok here goes...I own a Mini cooper S (the new ones not the half tonne model) and was wondering if this is big enough to carry tools, etc? Basically everything a self employed sparky would need. Now before you say not a chance the back seats are out. So it looks like this but without the rear...
