I have an electricity monitor on our 4kw pv system so I can see what the output is and I noticed today that about noon when all but the last 2 panels were in full sun it was outputting 0.3kw. As the sun moved and that last 2 panels came into full sun it went up to full output of over 3kw in...

A customer has asked me to install a Carbon Monoxide alarm in his boiler room so that when CO2 is detected it switches off his boilers and also then illuminates a light on the other end of the building.
I was thinking on the lines of a relay..... but which one??
Could someone...
Hi
I have been installing a Solar Thermal system (with a plumber friend) with a Glow-Worm Fluropro controller, and the system has a secondary return pump on it. I can't find any live output for the pump.
I could just put the pump on a plug-in timer, but in the manual it states that the system...
Hello
I have got a led light that has come with its own plug type transformer.
The LED is 6V DC 30ma
The Transformer output is 6V 400ma
Would I be able to connect another identical LED light to this transformer even though it would involve cutting/connecting the output cable from the...
Hi Guys,
Has anyone come across this SMPS from RS, 445-107.
Blurb says its class 1, because it has an earth pin.
I cannot get a circuit from the earth pin to the '-' of the output.
I have sent RS a question about this but have not had a reply.
Must fail it as a class 1 appliance.

Hi,
I'm replacing low voltage halogen with MR11 and MR16 LED bulbs. AC supply would be simplest because of existing wiring, but I'm concerned about LED flicker:

Really just a very basic question. I hadn't been checking on my panels/generation meter for a while as life had just been very busy, but I was quite taken back when I did my generation meter reading?! In the last 3 months it put out less than half of what it did in the first two months (approx...
Hi everyone.
Please can someone explain how i calculate the output ac voltage of an appliance?
If a power supply adapter shows output volts as dc how do i work out the equivalant output volts in ac?
Thanks
Hi Everyone,
I'm a bit puzzled by this, can anyone explain why a -48V dc power supply has a float voltage of -54.5V?
Is it to account for volt drop?
I know this forum is for pv but it's the only place I think I could get an answer!
Cheers...
Ok, if electricity in a wind turbine is generated by the wind spinning a coil in a magnet, how does it match the frequency of mains electricity (i.e.50 Hz) when the wind blows faster and slower all the time?
Remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers... :) (at least that's...
Until a few days ago, I had assumed that if you'd signed up for FiTs with no export meter (<30kWp), then you got deemed output and go paid 50% of what you generated for export.
Bearing in mind that MOST people actually export more than 50% (even the 2.5kWp systems) because it is difficult to...
Anyone installed them? Know any suppliers? Working for a client who wants to install trackers on a flat-roof 30m high! Anyone done a wind loading calcs for anything like this?!

Hey All,
I installed two sets of 6 lights, each set controlled by a dimmer.
When i bypassed the dimmers, i got 240v at the end of line lights.
when the dimmers are connected, i got 208v at the end of line lights.
The dimmer switches were on full, i dont know where im losing the 32v...
Does anyone know of a bathroom downflow fan heater than can be switched between two different heat settings whilst in use.
The customer has asked for one but I feel that exposed switches are unlikely in a bathroom, however I have seen a review that said there was one available by pull cord...
Hi,
Has anyone come across the Ultima solar hybrid panels? I have just come across a quote stating that a 3.84kW system will likely have an annual output of 5,333kWh per annum. This seems a bit optimistic, but I am not familiar with the technology and wondered if anyone here is?
cheers
Matt
Looking to install quite a lot of floodlights for a customer (direct replacement of SONPAKS), been looking at the LED floods which give a good output along with energy saving for the customer
