just been reading about measuring pfc on 3ph boards and the niceic book states that you should double the line to neutral/cpc (highest) and record it. Does this mean if the doubled result is higher than 6ka that even single phase mcb's should be rated higher than 6ka?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Got a few queries about the info on the motor tagsin the pics in the attachment.
In the first one in the Voltage box, it has 220 Delta and 380 Star. Does this mean that when the motor is running in delta config, the voltage...
just want to check about sockets close together on different phases or can you plug things in on different phases?
the problem is that servers have 2 power supplys for backup if the power goes then the ups takes over but i have just installed a 15 kva ups to feed the DB (which i...
Hi there,
i was called to a job by a customer to replace a distribution board that had suffered water damage within a farm building.
The DB i was presented with was 2 - phase, with a measured 250v per phase and 480v between phases. I have never seen these before and no-one in the...
Got a query about how a 3 phase domestic supply is charged by the supplier. 3 phases enter the meter (digital), does this work out the actual energy used or does it mesure the highest phase and read accross the other two??
basically its a domestic supply with inballanced loads. The sockets and...
Hi chaps,
a friend of mine has quite a few Fluke 1652's , I myself always use Megger.
My nephew now works for his firm, and uses as I do a 1552.
On testing a block of flats he gets readings in excess of 17ka (low eli etc)
His boss tells him the meter isn't giving the correct...
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site, but have a rather urgent question. I work as an IT Architect and as such I have a responsibility for our Data Centers.

Hi guys, i was thinking if it will be OK to install 3x 10 way metal consumer units with 4 pole main switch instead 1 x 26 way 3Ph. Im trying to save some customer money, that will be similar to domestic installation, with some spotlights and sockets, smoke detectors, 1ph climate control. Rcd...
keep coming across switching probs.where you have large area's of lighting spread across three phases,we used to use barrier sw/boxes apparently we don't need them now just stick a 415v label on the switch. Then you get the problem with multi gang switches with say three metal conduit drops and...
i have replaced a 415v 3 phase motor at work. The old one had 3 terminals in a line, each with one internal wire connected, and one terminal on other side with 3 internal wires connected. The new one has 6 terminals, each with one internal wire connected. It came with 3 bridging links which i...
