I know fire rated downlights are installed in false or suspended ceilings as the normal as the cost difference is small...
But what about PIR sensor in a false ceiling or a suspended grid ceiling wouldn't they need to be fire rated if it was a fire rated ceiling?
Got some emergency lighting to fit this week. Spec is vague.
Normally the key switch would be switching only the feed to the EM battery pack - not the whole circuit as I’ve seen some do. However the lights are all controlled by PIR. Does this have any impact? Can imagine they will be hard to...
Hi, I need to install a ceiling mounted pir sensor however the ones I have previously fitted look cheap and obtrusive, is there any that you guys have fitted that are small and not so crappy looking?
Fyi unfortunately I can not fit a recessed one

Does this sound like a normal way of wiring a PIR.
So had to change a PIR for a pullcord today and this caught me out. Just wonder what others thoughts are.
I could not get to any of the wiring above at all. I had two Twin and earth cables coming to PIR.
1st cable was power in no problem...

Hi all,

A short while ago someone asked about having two PIR lights linked so they both act as one. In my reply to that thread I mentioned something cryptic about having separate switches to enable them and to select the linking action.
Well here is a diagram of what I meant, as drawn up for a site...
Hi, I want to install 2 led pir floodlights directly from consumer unit and for them to work together when either sensor is set off. Can I run a cable to the first light (L,N,E) and then from the first light to the second light the same (L,N,E) and then run another cable from L1 to L1 on either...
As always, I'm a level 2 student so please ignore the ignorance.
Is it possible, and if so how, to wire up a PIR with a switch that has the ability to turn the light off after the PIR has been activated. Or in all cases do you have to wait for the timer to expire?
Side question - are there...
Hi,
I have an outside light that I would like to add a PIR to while keeping the ability to continue to use the switch as normal, do I simply add the PIR in parallel to the switch as shown in my excellent high quality attached drawing? :)
