Hi All
I am trying to find a suitably priced 4ch CCTV DVR with RJ45 inputs.
I usually use BNC inputs but the customer already has RJ45 plugs on the end of the cameras.
Thanks in advance
Hi everyone, I am really happy to be here on the Electricians Forums. Despite my weird sounding handle I can assure you I am English born and bred. One day I'll explain the name but in the meanwhile let me say that I've been doing electrics for most of my life and I run a small domestic...
Hi,
I'm creating some bespoke mood lights with coloured woven cables and am looking high and low for a nice (rewirable) plug to match the cable. So far, I'm disappointed to only find either white or black common plugs that look very crude/industrial. Do you know of anything fancier out there...
Hi Guys
What determines whether a moulded 13 Amp plug requires to be fused?
I have in my hand a cable for a 72 watt transformer. one end of the lead has a physically very small moulded unfused 13 plug which is stamped 10A 250VAC. The other end is terminated with a standard moulded female (2.5...

Generally I am appalled by the standards of domestic electrical components and work on both sides of the border: very flexible back boxes, flimsy sockets without switches, most plugs difficult to wire...
Hey there,
I tried posting this in the DIY forum but I'm unable to do so for some reason.
I've just moved into a new house where there are 2amp sockets in all the bedrooms. I purchased a bedside table lamp and grabbed a 2amp plug to connect it to that circuit. The 2amp plugs don't fully fit...
Hi,
Am wanting to remove all bs1363 plugs from the factory, they are not suitable for the oompa loompas we employ.
The problem is I can't find an alternative.
I need a heavy duty plug, that has a fuse built in.
Something like a Harting Han-E but fused.
The alternative is an in-line fuse in...
Has anyone got a source for "pin plugs"?
I find "Uni-fix nailing plugs" - but at nearly £8 per 100 on Ebay! That's barmy when cheapo yellow plugs (just a teeny bit too big for clip nails) are 39p in Screwfix.
I used to have a box of yellow ones which worked a treat, but no idea of the brand...
Hi,
I had a nice little job of cutting 20 Australian plugs off appliances etc the other day and replacing with uk plugs...
It occurred to me though, none of them had fuses?..
I have no idea how it works down under and just wondered if someone would kindly tell me why the appliances are not fused.

Any one out there ever needed to fit a recessed socket so the plug would fit flush with the wall. On a job and my customer need this so they can fit a piece of furniture close to the wall.
Would there be any demand for some sort of recessed socket in certain situations??

Good morning,
First of all I am not an electrician.
I have two batteries in two different enclosures that are each powering instruments, that run on 12V DC.
The instruments are provided with chargers that plug into regular 240V AC UK plug or European 230V AC plug.
Those chargers both...
Hi guys,
In the course of my work as an electrician I came across a portable pool heater rated at 4.8kW. it was designed and built in the UK, but the power was supplied by two 13A plugs. I was asked about PAT Testing it, but I can see all sorts of potential issues with such a device. Both plug...
