    Just started testing,help please!

    Hello all, New to testing so be gentle please. I understand the basics of continuity and ins resistance tests on rings and radials. What I am not sure about is polarity. At what point am I testing for polarity,what does it prove and how do I do it? SIMPLE answers would be much appreciated...

    First of all i should point out that I am not an electrician, but having spent the last 3 hrs trying to find an answer to this, I hope you don't mind me posting this topic... I have recently installed some basic wall and celing lights, where the lights previously had celing rose connections...
