I've recently passed my C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing and I was wondering if you actually need to be registered with an approved competent person scheme to just carry out Periodic Inspection Reports. From my understanding of it you only need to be competent and insured. Is it only the client...

Do you have PI insurance to cover you against possible errors in your advice?
Is this a requirement of MCS?
What kind of premium should i expect to pay?

Hi,
I have recently heard that to fit a ceramic or induction hob, a professional electrician must do it so that you get the correct certificates etc to show when you want to sell your house one day...is this true? Does that mean I can never fit anything myself?

Thanks
Mark

New to the game and looking for insurance.
I've been online looking for £2m for a sole trader/one man band, and quotations seem to be in the region of between £70-100. Is this typical ?
Cheers
