hi all
come across a new build commercial office where radial circuits feeding electrak power track was protected by 32A RCBO at dist board and the electrak tap off leads terminated into RCD under desk sockets
why install RCD sockets when circuit is protected by 32A RCBO
is this install correct...
Trying to organise a CU replacement at home. It's a 1930s property. It's got a 10way CU but with no RCD protection.
Was after a larger unit with full RCBOs. Every Sparky I've spoken to has varied in their suggested plans.
1) Some say do an EICR first, others happy to just go straight with a...
So here is the thing
Rhere is an old MEMSHIELD TPN+E Board that is pretty mich obsolete. The only place that sells their breakers would be Ebay right.
After having EICR done on it it's been flagged that It requires RCBO/RCD for sockets right.
So here is where we are at
It's not really...
I have a ring cct (2.5mm ) in my cabin which is protected by a 20amp RCBO. This has been in existence for over 3 years with no issues. I recently bought a table saw and when turned on, on its own all is OK. However the other day I had a heater and a dust extractor on, then turned on the table...
Hi All,
Seeking some thoughts on my own Omega free standing 900mm oven.
Over the past year the oven has been tripping the supplying RCBO unit.
I have replaces the rear fan forced element and thermostat but the unit continues to trip rcbo.
Does anyone have any other ideas on shot might cause the...
Hi Chaps
I've got a Wiha torque driver but only came with couple of bits (below)... none of which fit 'outgoing side' of Contactum RCBO's.
Anyone know what size I'd need please ? So can order up
Tried their technical but no one there until next week 🙈
Cheers Sy
Hello everyone,
Is it necessary to test RCBO x5? Some say that you can’t even test at x5 times because it can damage RCBO. Others that you can, but we don’t put the result in testing sheets. I found a recommendation that it is advisable to test x5.
Cheers
Hi All I'm new here. I have just finished my NVQ and waiting to do my AM2. I have a question on selectivity as it has always slightly confused me, as I've never seen it practically since I started.
My question is will selectivity be achieved if all boards were RCBO's and not RCD's as If there...
I had a call to a new customer who was experiencing what sounded like nuisance tripping on a kitchen ring.
Some background first.
It's an MK LN insulated [i.e. plastic] split load board, with only one side RCD protected. A direct predecessor [I think ?] and very similar in appearance to the...
Hi all,
Wondering if you could offer some advice please.
I carried out a small outdoor lighting project today at a commercial property. 4 lights controlled by a photocell.
As a background, the cables were installed by the resident electricians. 1.5 SWA at all 4 lights. The supply is ran back...
Anyone think of a way for a 'tripped"RCBO to notify property owner etc. Client has a valuable display cabinet thats fed from a RCBO (Radial) . But wants to know if it ever "trips" ? And the cabinet loses power .
Ring main was on a c40 rcbo so I tested the circuit everything was fine and dropped down onto a b32, It’s quite a long circuit but only serves about 10 sockets. The rcbo stays on but the client says trips frequently, I’ve been back and the rcbo stayed on the whole time, I then left and over the...
I had a 6amp RCBO feeding a 2.5mm radial ( temporary measure)
It tripped, as I expected would
But once tripped, all the other circuits went dead?
I replaced with a 16amp RCBO, powered on, and everything back to normal?
What could have caused this?
Hi,
I have just replaced an old rewireable fuseboard with a 10way consumer unit with rcbo's fitted.
The issue i have is that when i connect one of the three lighting circuits it trips the other two lighting circuits together with one of the 32amp ring circuits!!!
I thought borrowed neutrals at...
I'm planning a replacement for my existing domestic CU and would like to have it sanity checked before I get an electrician involved. The main reason for replacing the whole CU is that I would like to have an additional circuit to the attic which would be isolated from the existing one. Long...
