Hello
I am new to the forum and was hoping I could pick your collective brains.
I am an electrician with 7 years experiance. I have mainly worked for the MOD and on commercial and industrial builds throughout my time.
I now do the odd bit of domestic work and need some help on a kitchen ring...

Hi all,
First of all, i'm sorry if I am not permitted to post here as I am most definitely not an electrician (so excuse my ignorance)
Since yesterday, I have not been able to use any sockets, due to my RCCB Split-Load tripping. If I switch the "sockets" switch on my consumer unit, it will...
Hello guys.
I was asked to quote to replace a 3 phase db in a sports pavilion. All cables are twin and Earth in the wall.
Because it's a building open to the public I decide to go with rcbos on every circuit, to give extra protection and discrimination so they don't lose everything if a fault...
Hi guys, first off im not a qualified electrican but i am a qualified engineer and very competent, also assisted a few rewires to help a friend start a buiseness a few years ago.
So to the point. I recently bought a new house and its had a full rewire as all the cables are new colors and it...

Hi Guys,

So gets a shout today to check out a tripping circuit in a student halls we look after. Gets there and the staff are vague but somebody had been at it over the weekend and done a temp fix. Ok I says and off I trot to have a look. Gets the cover off the single phase split board and find 2 x 10mm...
Afternoon all.
This is a weird one but I thought i would ask your thoughts to satisfy my own cuisosity and apologies for long post!
Board is a Crabtree with 1no RCCB. The RCCB tripped when the TV was plugged in and socket turned on. RCCB would not instantly re-set but it did after a couple...
Hi all,
I have been to a property where the tails come out of the meter and into an RCCB which then feeds the main switch of the consumer unit. All circuits are protected by MCBs.
If I'm adding a new circuit, is it best put in an RCBO instead of an MCB?
Thanks
As The title says I have 2 of these boxed brand new Hager 4 pole 80A, 300ma Ref number is CF480M . Special order then not used. 50 quid each or 2 for 85.00 inc postage need rid just in the way.
I'm a Canadian electrician thrown into the 'European' wiring world (not in Europe though).
I was just reading up on RCCB in that they are 'similar' to our GFCI's but do not provide over current protection, therefore, an RCBO is required as the O in RCBO is over current protection.
As I've been...

Many Thanks

Hi all
I got called out to a fault the other day, main switch RCD tripping. I arrived at the house and the first thing I noticed was that the two very large goldfish in a large bowl where swimming upside down. Anyway the fault was easy to locate a rodent chewed cable in the garage with a bit...
