quick question i have come across a DB wich as recently been installed it is a 12way HAGAR DB with a 63amp RCCB as the isolator
my thought is that this should have been an isolator and RCBO,s fitted were required mainly to avoid problems from nuisance tripping am i right
Hi,
I've just been to a job where the main switch rccb keeps tripping during the night. Haven't had chance to do continuity / IR tests yet as the consumer unit was in a corner cupboard with a revolving rack. So I just did an rcd test which tripped on x1/2 so I started switching the mcbs off one...
Hello all..
I figure its better to ask and be ridiculed than not!
I am about to add a couple of spurs to a ring that is not RCD protected. The neighbour definitely wants them channeled in rather than surface trunking so I have to RCD protect. It is an old Tenby CU with crabtree SB6000 MCB's. I...
Hi, my brother has recently purchased a new house. He asked me to look at the consumer unit. It is an old wired fuse unit that needs replacing. It has 2 lighting circuits(U and D). Two sockets (U and D) and a 40A shower, but the shower fuse has been looped with a 40A RCCB (modern version...
hi everyone
iam struggling to find a replacement RCCB its manufacturer is GET i cant seem to find them anywhere, the cu imo is around 8-10 years old am wondering if this rccb is still available if not do any of you now of a make that would fit this unit i know its not ideal to change mcb/ rcd...
hi all..
i would like to ask a question regarding rccb..
In cyprus we use TT system and i would like to ask about the connection of rccb and mcb as a consumer unit.
Is it ok if i use rccb and mcb instead of mcb and rccb in the connection order.
to be more specific..the main supply goes to rccb...

rccb only trips when any heavy duty appliance is plunged in microwave boiler. tv seams fine
this is what i have done so far tested the mcb's also the rccb and all is fine so placed it back in (friend done a ramp test for me)
next i disconnected all appliances and light bulbs and checked for...
I have a problem to sort out - it is a TT system with a faulty 80A 10mA RCCB after the meter and before the consumer unit. The board is very old style MCBs with no RCDs present.
The customer called me up because until about 6 weeks ago the front garden lights were causing the RCCB to trip. I...

Hi all,
To keep it short and to the point, my neighbour has a PV array on a shed which goes to an inverter, then to a 20A RCBO (I think) in a small CU and then back to the main CU in the house where it goes to a Hager 40A RCCB (30mA). The 40A Hager in the house trips periodically for no reason...
Hi
Well guys wondering if you could help me, I went to price a loft conversion job yesterday where the guy is converting his loft into a bedroom and bathroom. I was probably going to run a new ring main for the sockets and a new lighting circuit for the lights which there is space for in the...
Good evening all!
I have discovered this evening (whils't re-setting the RCD) that when applying light pressure to the RCCB in my Crabtree Starbreaker CU, the connection into the busbar arcs severely and all circuits on this side of the CU flicker.
I have tried re-seating the RCCB but has made...
Hi All.
I've been undertaking a PIR/EICR and the property has a load of old Hager BS4229 RCCBs on various boards. Can anyone tell me if this is a switch on a Hager BS4293 RCCB and if so, what it is for? I've spoken to Hager and sent them the photo and they don't know?! The switch is to the right...
alright everyone
my friend has asked me about his rccb, all he says is that the test button wont operate, it was wired up 30+years ago and the rccb is am told the main switch for the fusebox.
i am wondering is it possible for the test button to become jammed with lack of use over the years or...

Hi
Due to the long length of a distribution circuit I'm installing, the cable csa is 50mm sq.
The earthing arrangement at the origin is TT.
25mm tails at the service are to be connected to a 300ma 100amp time delayed rcd then into a 100amp s/fuse ( fuses rated at 80 amp )
From the s/fuse a...
As far as I am lead to believe, an RCCB has overcurrent protection. They look just like RCDs tho as there is no Type B or C rating on them?I've recently installed one and i'm now worrying if its right.Any help?
Cheers
Hi all
replaced a faulty 3 phase rccb yesterday (main switch) with exactly the same control gear one. Testing on x1 and x5 were absolutely fine but it didn't work with the test button. I swapped it for another one assuming it was faulty but did exactly the same, baffled me! any ideas?! By the...
Testing a RCCB installation off a Crabtree Starbreaker. TT installation. All non powered tests good however 30mA RCCB failed all tests. Even tried at the Dist. board still no joy. Replaced RCCB and still the same. Earth earth loop impedance via earth electrode is 248 ohms which although a tad...
