Hi
Maybe it's an easy task but I could do with some help. I want to link 2 outside lights integrating into a control 4 door station (intercom) so when someone presses the intercom the lights will come on. On the intercom there is a n/c, n/o and a common terminals which I have a cat 5 running to...
Hi, I'm after some ideas to make a wired gate alarm, I have tried a wireless version and it's hopeless, despite claiming a 100M range I have found it has to be so close to the house that the 'visitor' is by the door by the time the alarm goes off.
My plan was to use bell wire connected to two...
Hi all.
Wondering if you guys can help me.
I'm creating a very simple motorcycle loom and have run into one area where I'm not 100% clear on what to do.
I have a remote triggered relay board which can trigger / switch 4 things.
The board is continuos feed, 12V and 20amp per output.
I have a...
im into cctv in a big way, and now want to expand with sensors and relays etc.
never used a relay before but I understand its simply a switch.
bought my first relay, a 12v activated one, wired a table lamp to the relay, applied a 12v voltage and it worked, turned off the 12v supply and light...
Is there anybody on here that work with MiCOM relays or has any of the old software, since Areva packed in and became Alstom/Schneider I'm having a bit of a mare trying to open some old settings files that I have but I don’t have the MiCOM software that came with it.
The relays I believe are...
Hi all
Just been asked about if I can make a replacment panel for a company. The old butchered panel is 240v control.
Is there any rule of thumb or so to work out what size of transformer to use to convert it down to 24vac.
I have know idea how much power contactors, relays and indicator leds...
Has anybody had any dealings with these?
I have been asked to test an Under Voltage device, which I think is a transient devise as well (guessing) as it has +-10%
A single control fuse is blowing repeatedly, and my assumption is that everything is ok untill the monitoring device is switchrd...
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a budget 230V to 24VDC Transformer Rectifier, the application is to run a couple of Retro Reflective Sensors along with the 2 Channel Safety Relay to control them so power consumption is minimal
Thanks
Okay here's one for the trainees. The background is that a friend of mine has an electric fence system that's got 2 zones. If anything touches the electrified fence wires it sets off an alarm and a little 12vdc flashing beacon on top of the control box. There are 2 of these flashing beacon...

Afternoon chaps,
I think this has been discussed before, but ...
Lets say, I have a piece of old kit (in my case it is a 1970s spool turning machine, not NC, all mechanical with hundreds of knobs and gears)
without a safety relay, without proper guard switched (just ordinary poller...
Quick question.
I am doing a garden at the moment and the lighting is complicated with various sensors and pirs and photocells.
they want an HOA switch to control them but i have to use LV relays. Is it possible to get a 3 way relay? As obviously i only have NC and NO on the relay.
I have been wiring a heating system. The main hot water tank is heated by an oil boiler, a multifuel rayburn, some solar panels, and an electric immersion. There are 4 seperate heating zones including two underfloor with network stats and a separate circuit for towel rails.
This is not like any...
We are working on a very old heating system where the boiler and pump can be activated independently by the CoH control and the H.W. control. The problem is if C.H. is activated we don’t want it to back track onto the H.W. circuit, and vice versa. The only time this is acceptable is if the C.H...
Hey,
I don't quite understand Relays and Contactors previously ive worked for a company and if we ever needed a contactor they just said heres a contactor wire it (For example we used contactors for the air conditioning switching)
I know how to wire them and that but i dont UNDERSTAND why they...
Ok so the operatives at work are wining about how hard their jobs is, the usual.
The scenario is at the moment they have a set of vibrators on dust silos that feed onto a conveyor belt, the current set up is an on/off switch on the control desk that switches the vibrators on via a contactor...
Hi guys, hope I'm on the right site, if not appologies.
My query is automotive based.
I'm about to rewire my VW Beetle based trike as the main terminals are hidden away under a false panel and are nearly impossible to get to should there be a problem and I have a few questions.
The builder did...
I have a 100KW installation coming up next month. The DNO require an additional G59 relay to be installed, although the inverters are G59 already. I was just wondering if anyone recommends a good place to buy one.
I have 5 Mastervolt CS20TL inverters that will be installed. Is it just the...
Does anyone know why contactors are more expensive than relays?
In my mind they do the same thing in fact relays do more (IE normally on/ normally off terminals) so why the difference in price IE contactors are more expensive, I don't get it.
Thanks.
