Hi all,

Hi All. I was called out today to a tripped RCD in a domestic split board that not would reset unless the main switch was off. All mcbs off, all phase conductors removed in case of stuck mcb but still no rcd reset unless main swith was off. Any ideas, householder was not prepared for more...
I have been out to a faulty immersion and have found that there is current through the thermostat. but no current after the next component between the two white wires. what is this and what does it do? and is it bypassable , repairable without having to change the whole element.
thanks
Mark
Ok, so I'll put in a little background.
On nearly all the sites I look after, the overloads for just about all the smaller >75Kw motors are in a main panel in each sites main switch room. Not a problem until something trips out, it's usually operator error, overloading conveyors etc...
Now...
Was asked to look at this job today where the lights on a 6a mcb wouldn't reset. I turned up watched the the person onsite reset the mcb where it instantly reset with a bang and arcing coming from it. I did it again, same thing happened. So i turned all the light switches off and reset the mcb...
Did a small PAT test on a shop fitting site the other day.
Was happily testing 110v appliances and running Insulation @ 500vdc and a touch current test (the tester was connected to a 110v supply).
I came across 2 items that simply forced the tester to 'reboot' though - a Router (1200W) and a...

Had a call from a customer friday, they had an error message stating that the date and time had not been set in some time (since it was installed about 6 months ago) The red light was on and the inverter had shutdown. Customer braved the menu system and reset the time and it's working fine...

the master trips out when the power goes out, won't go back on until power is back on, but have to turn off every fuse on board to get Master to reset when power returns, and then reset each fuse individually... huzb also a sparks - fuse board safe, just ancient.
Own up then.
Hi lads,
too cut a long story short - working on occupied commercial building, had to isolate sub-board to work and test. After isolation and re-energise phones are off. no dialling tone.
At main board there was an mcb saying server do not switch off (thought phones may be fed from this along...
Does anyone know if the reset delay on the Solarmax 13MT can be adjusted and if so how?
We have a site with 9 x inverters and it would be good if we could adjust the reset delay on each inverter to achieve a staggers start over a period of time following a power outage and prevent a possible...
Have customer with elecric powered gates. The supply for the gates comes from a plug in RCD unit in a kitchen socket. Apparently it has been like this for some years but recently the plug in unit gave off very strong burning smell and eventually burnt out and stopped working, i.e would not reset...

It seems that there...
