Hello
Went to job yesterday socket on ring had burn out quite badly scared customer to death. First thing i found was a spur from socket in swa no glands just made of in socket out through wall feeding 8 latern lights on patio , water feature and a summer house 4 way cu which in turn fed 6...
I'm scratching my on this because I've never done it before. I'm on a new build school wire with quite a few computer RFC's using 2.5 T&E + a 4mm single Earth that we are just pulling in now. When it comes to us testing these circuits, how do I/we record the results?
Both the 1.5mm CPC and the...
What is the best way to confirm r2 and R1+R2 when the circuit is routed in conduit and this is used as the cpc?
I have used wander lead and got continuity at all points on the circuit for the cpc.
rn and r1 are within 0.03 of each other so no problem there.
just how to confirm that the...
Went to replace a corroded socket outlet today and found that the TV coax is crammed in the same conduit as the 2.5mm spur feed cable, then passes out of the mains backbox into its own aerial point box. No way to re-route it without major upheaval for a very nice old Lady.
Thoughts please.
This is something I have been racking my brain over for ages and its doing my head in!! :crazy:
Please could someone explain why you are only allowed to have one unfused spur per socket on a RFC?
I'll explain a little why I'm confused.
A ring main is allowed as many sockets as you like on the...
In the process of a domestic EICR. RFC, i'm getting L-L (0.11) N-N (0.11) cpc-cpc (0.48) had to take off all socket fronts anyway as i did not like what i saw on a couple of random selected s/o & i've tightend up any loose cpc terminals i can find. I'm guessing that there could be a JB with a...
While doing a EICR with another electrician today, we come across something quite strange on both of the rings firstly within the consumer unit for both rings there were two lines & two neutrals for each ring as there should be but only one cpc per ring, we tried to pull the cables through from...
Just thinking about a kitchen circuit, How close would i be pushing a 32a rfc with washing machine, dishwasher, and two double sockets (likely to use kettle and toaster at the same time ) would 2x A3 circuits be more sensible?
Hi all,
bit of advice please - as the title, I have been asked to test a RFC which is served by a UPS. It's in an alarm receiving center. Any advice on what I need to watch out for, testing protocols etc? Not workred on this kind of set up before.
Regards.
Hi,
I have just tested a RFC and the CPC was broken (no continuity). Tested all the socket on that circuits and R1+R2 was OK but I could't open a socket to check, as it was hidden (burried) behind a door frame and it must be a double socket with only one of its switches staring at me. To reach...
I am getting a dead short between line and neutral on an IR test on a RFC. The second RFC is giving 0.30 M Ohms!!
I have removed all loads as far as I can see including a TV amp in the loft (although there is no seperate power feed to it).
I have split the ring but its not easy to work out...
hi all
i'm doing a continuity test on rfc
r1=.70
rn=.69
r2=1.14
but when doing r1+rn/4 it should be .36 but getting .74 on all sockets
and r1+r2/4 should be .46 but getting .83 on sockets
is this just due to loose connections somewhere
thanks in advance
So... I've changed a CU, tested all circuits, 2 x RFC's, first test out fine, second performing end to end continuity I get 0.48 on r1, then on rn I get 4.53???
I spent best part of the day taking off every accessible visible socket and FCU on the ring, checking and tightening connections, and...
OK, please collect me if wrong.....
Measure end to end... line, cpc and neautral
add line and cpc resistance then divide by 4 ???
Record on test sheet????
Evening chaps,
Did a PIR other day, and the lighting has been wired as a ring and not 2 radials.
Now, i could hunt around and try and split it, but i was wondering what your thoughts were on this.
Its been like it for a fair few years on a 6A MCB and the owner has never had a problem...
Altho` i`ve got it in me head that 1mm cpc in a Ring Final is no longer permitted, i can`t seem to find a definitive answer.
Can anybody help me out here please...
Chaps,
Not got my regs books to hand at the mo, but could anyone find anything that states a kitchen MUST have its own RFC and if poss, a reg number to back it up?
Ta very much..
