I have an intermittent tripping fault on a 30amp ring main circuit (old Wylex board with B-Breakers - No RCD) located in single storey extension (no roof access) caused by the bad rain within the last 24 hours. The tripping can be sometimes instant, but other times it can last as long as a...

Some Wago connectors are rated at 24 amps and take cable up to 2.5mm. Would you use them on a ring main circuit?
My concern is that if one leg of the ring went open circuit, the wago would be then used on a radial circuit protected by a 32a mcb.

Ok so firstly I am not a DIY'er but would like to get some info in regards to the following project.
I have a new house (2009) so the main board has rcd protection and the wiring would conform to the regs in that year I am not certain about the month though.
I need to get power to the garage...

Hi, I'm relatively new to this forum and have not long since qualified.
As one of my first job, I recently installed a new CU to feed a large shed. I got the clients provider out to install a service switch so I could safely tail up the new CU. Whilst the engineer was out he plugged his tester...

Hi,
I am looking for a bit of advice on the Regs relating to BS 3036 fuses on a ring main, as I do not agree with the comments made on a PIR.
The defect states that the conductors are too small for the protective device due to the 0.725 factor.
The circuit is wired in 2.5mm2 singles in...
Hi to all
My plug sockets upstairs are supposed to be on a ring main, I have continuity from the fuse board to all seven sockets but the final leg back to the fuse board has no continuity on the live wire. It's possible that it has been like this for years and that the circuit has always been...

First of all i would like to say Hi to you all.
Im doing some research for a course and need to understand about ring main in insulation.
I understand that because of the insulation it degrades the rating of the cable, so how do you overcome this ? i keep seeing about regulations and things...
hi all i want to know if its possible to obtain r1 and rn and r2 results by calculation by only having the R2 reading and zs reading
i am unsure if this is possible any pointers would be great for a ring main circuit, i can judge the approximate length if this is a required factor
What readings would expect for the wandering lead method whilst testing from the consumer unit to the sockets, would you expect in the region of less than 0.10 ohm?
