Just a quick hi, I've been a member for a while but not been active. I'm a fellow spark from Essex, been self employed for 5 years now and things are going well. I will hopefully be on here more with some questions of my own and also I would like to give some advice if I can. I will look forward...
Does anybody know or recommend an easily obtainable product that would be suitable for the expansion side of a pvc expansion coupler.
Normally I have installed conduit with bends which have accommodated expansion but I have two long straight runs on my next install and although it is suggested...
Sparky for 20 years I would think. Then took a break from it.
Just started up again this year, and I have got my first install (renewed the 17th earlier in the year 2382-12 IET).
So.. yep... need the pain-in-the-bum Part P.
However, this job and its my only job) is barely going to make me...
Hi,
does anybody have experience of dealing with tool hire companies in the North West, in particular what levels of discount can be achieved for 'regular' customers.
Apologies for some laziness (I should be ringing round) but I thought I'd get some views from this forum first.
Thanks
So about two months ago now, I got a call from a customer asking if I could do a few bits, "of course" I said. She asked for a rough price to change one pendant for two and install a new socket. I said roughly £100 depending on RCD, Bonding, blah blah blah... and we arranged a date (about a week...
Hi....I have been asked by a local land owner, who lives in the local mansion!!!!!!!!!! If I could replace all the double sockets in the house....the main house....not the West wing where the kitchen is....lol The trouble is the old double round pin 15amp sockets have bigger face plates than...
I look after a venerable lighting installation consisting of a large number of 5A circuits from a patch panel to various positions on the walls.
There is a need to add another position (10 circuits). I'm finding it very difficult to lay my hands on 5A sockets (apart from the Hager one which I...

So, big Victorian house, rewired in '95 or '96. Looking round it seems a tidy installation, then I go down into the cellar. Never mind your spring clamps and such like, or contacting the DNO. This is how you sort a DNO earth connection. Separate the wires and twist them round the lead sheath...

Went to look at a ropey socket and a sticky pullswitch this aft. Went to isolate the supply and found a small cu with no front on and 1 of the breakers hotwired off 1 of the others to feed kitchen sockets! No rcd protection here either so when i asked the tennant about this he said he had rang...
Anyone know where or who stock surface patresses for use with pvc conduit, that have rounded corners?Have some grid switches to install and the face plates have the rounded edges, so don't want to use the standard square edge boxes to mount them as imo looks dog rough.
I've never come across this before, but I've just seen in a house a flat screen tv on a wall with the usual removable mains cable but the plug has been chopped off to fit an old 2A small plug with round pins on and into an a single round pin socket. Surely this isn't safe to run the tv on? Can...
A customer has a light fitting with a round base that is designed to be mounted on the cieling.
She wants it on the wall.
The mounting holes on the fitting will line up with a standard patress, but as it is a round base the corners of the patress will not be covered.
I considered a galv end...
