8.5K shower unit is wired to plastic box consumer unit to 30 amp cartridge fuse with no RCD
It’s the original shower installed when the house was built around 1995
The shower is still fully working after all these years, never blowing the cartridge fuse before
Am I right to presume RCD wasn’t...
I've been told I need to upgrade the main earth bonding to 16mm.
The consumer unit is on the wall adjacent to the externally mounted incoming supply box - I basically need to run the earth wire down the corner about 1m and then across the side wall about 30cm then through and into the back of...
Bought a range from Home Depot. They supplied a 40 amp cord. Electrician was going to use a 50 amp outlet.

Hello.
I would like to know if from a safety perspective the wiring of the saniflo (see all 3 attached pictures) is good or not. If not can someone point to regulations that cover such jobs in bathrooms?
Background: This is a Saniflo replacement and rewiring. Intuitively I would say this is...
Hi all,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this, i have purchased a surge protector and it will not fit the power cables i plan on using.
I have purchased a Vietnam surger protector seen here and i have bought a new pc monitor which appears to have an Australian style plug. I'm hoping i can...
I am getting a new front-load Maytag washer. I have a regular old refrigerator. Can I plug them into the same double outlet? What should the breaker amp be? It is currently 15A.
I recently moved into a flat to find that my top floor main light is wired into central heating circuit, along with bathroom towel rail .
As a result the light only works if the immersion heater , boost or central heating is on ! Aside from being ridiculous and extremely inconvenient in summer...

I have an old hifi system that has a record player stacked on top of an amplifier. Weirdly, both are wired to the same plug. I don't know whether they came like this or whether somebody did it post purchase for some reason (I inherited it from my grandma). I want to pass the record player on so...
Hi there. Looking to get some advice on some work we’re having done: Kitchen installers have installed a socket under the sink by these pipes. They ran it by me on the plans and it seemed sensible from an access pov but seeing it makes me feel concerned that if those pipes sprung a leak we could...

Hi,
I hope that someone here might be able to put my mind at rest. I have an engineering mind and a reasonable understanding of electical work, but I'm not confident on this area and want to ensure the safety of my family.
I purchased a bestway splasher pool a few years ago (holds around...
Hello
Have purchased a 500 w mini wind turbine to help charge leisure batteries in our temporary mobile home.
I have sourced and fabricated a sturdy metal bracket to mount it 6 metres in the air.
It's connected back to the batteries in the Mobile which is connected to an inverter to provide...
Due to an incident of an induced voltage on the array framework and someone getting a shock what’s people safe system of works in place to minimise this happening ?
Dear Electrical Experts.
Hokay, I know the question sounds stoopid - but here's the thing. I've not had an electric kettle for awhile because they kept blowing the mains circuits - the last 2 went rabid, if you turned them on the mains instantly turned off.
I live in a one-room flat...
We are getting our bathroom refurbished , our bathroom already had a 9.5kw shower we are getting that changed to a rainfall shower.
As we have low water pressure we are having a water pump installed.
The builder has connected the existing 6mm cable to 2.5mm cable (using a connector block )...
I'm renovating a property and vaulting a kitchen ceiling to gain more head height. The floor will be a slab which is yet to be laid.
Would it be better to run the cables for sockets down from the top of the wall where it meets the pitch of the ceiling or up from the floor slab (from within...
Hello all. I have this downlight where the bulb went a while ago and I replaced the bulb myself. I'd never dealt with these type of lights before so I thought the holder had to be pulled out. So I replaced the bulb but then when tried to re-insert the holder, the clips kept flying off, one flew...
