Hello, hello, long time listner, first time caller...
So, I have an issue in a house I'm trying to get ready to rent. The plumber has installed a power shower despite my asking him to install a mixer type. He's not gonna come back and fix it, and I havent paid for shower.
The issue I have is...
Hello guys n gals,
Did n EICR other week in a flat where the shower circuit was 40A mcb with RCD protection, 6mm cable. Only about 10M run.
The 8.5kw shower had been replaced by the tenant for a 10.5kw one (old one was still in the cupboard is how I know).
Unusually, the installation supply...
Hi,
Same project as detailed in my other post (I want to run shower cables to the CU whilst the kitchen ceiling is disturbed).
I'm going to install a 9kW shower, cable length will be 12m max from CU to shower switch. Cables will run in the cavity between between floors (between floor joists)...
Hi All,
looking for some assistance on this as finding different information wherever i look.
We have a garage external to the house, which we are turning into a small 1 bedroom flat, due to the layout the shower room will have to be located in the corner where the garage consumer unit is...
Hi All,
I hope you are doing well.
I am asking about the electrical wire. I am in the process of working on the floor across the 1st floor and while the decking is exposed I want to run a wire for future power shower. What wire should I use?
Thanks
Best regards
Hi. I'm being tasked with installing an electric shower into a property that was built back in the 1980's. The main consumer unit has only 4 ways and is protected by an RCD, and is fully populated and in a very tight space under their stairs. However one of the MCB's is currently used to feed...
8.5K shower unit is wired to plastic box consumer unit to 30 amp cartridge fuse with no RCD
It’s the original shower installed when the house was built around 1995
The shower is still fully working after all these years, never blowing the cartridge fuse before
Am I right to presume RCD wasn’t...
I've installed a Mira SE shower. My query.
The instructions indicate a vertical rising or a falling pipe connection. I connected in a horizontal direction.
As the shower connector swivels I can't see a reason to have it only in a rising or falling type connection position, except in the...
Doing an Eicr and the 230v timed class 1 bathroom extractor is less than 200mm next to the shower head.
I see this as a C2 and would insist on it being changed to at least a 12v fan or even better a new location.
Welcome any thoughts

Hi all,
Been a while since I've posted - got a new project to install a small 7kw electric shower.
The shower will be about 7 metres from the main fusebox on the upper floor.
There seems to be a lot of debate about 4mm2 or 6mm2 wiring.
Due to the diameter of the wall conduits, I doubt very...
Im considering installing a Digital Shower (not pumped, just controlled) during my Bathroom Refit. Im looking for the best option for powering the valve. The Manufacturer recommends runnig a 30mA RCD circuit, however as my Sockets are already protected with an RCD can I connect the valve into a...
Hi all,
nylon switch chord broke, but the switch is still working.
I'd really like to just replace the nylon chord but it's fairly inaccessible.
Could some kind person tell me if this is possible without buying a new switch ?
Please see pic.
Many thanks
So abit of a random one. But yesterday my Neighbor asked me if I'd be able to take a quick look at their shower as it had stopped working. I said I'd go round an take a look and see if it was something simple enough to fix and get it going again.
Checked the usual things. The solenoid was fine...
Good evening
I am wondering what people would code for a socket within a meter of a sink basin that has a salon style moveable hose attached. There's an obvious risk there but I suppose it is classified as a location containing a bath and or shower etc. The circuit is RCD protected
Cheers...
Hi we recently had a leak in the shower area, on removal of tray to locate leak we uncovered hanging electrical cables, should this be secured in place or in conduit? Just seems unsafe to me
Hello,
I have just posted in the Electrician's section one photo and two videos of what I believe to be a dangerous situation of short circuits happening within a shower unit.
You can see (also here attached):
1) Extensive burn marks on the plastic cover;
2) A vast amount of water leaking from...
This could be interesting. Any thoughts/predictions:
I have a pump operated shower – in the past year the pump has been replaced 3 times as it stopped working – but the plumber is at a loss to the problem and said it must be something to do with the electrics? This makes sense, because if I go...
We own a small, one bedroom flat (built 1989).
An EICR inspection raised three C2 observations and recommendations:
(A) The shower cable, and mcb were incorrect size (9.5Kw Mira shower) - Recommend replace 6mm cable with 10mm cable (12 meters, surface run, in trunking) and replace 32 amp...
Hi There,
Homeowner here with no electrical knowledge, so go easy on me!
We've had our garage converted, and coming to the end of the project. We've had a shower/utility room (2.7m x 1.5m) added as part of the conversion, within which is housed a stacked Tumble Dryer on top of a washing...
