MV Cable Sizing: My requirment is 11kv and load of 6MW, with Short circuit current rating of 31.5KA,
I need the size for this and complete calcution procedure for the above...
Please reply.
thanks
I'm trying to work out the size of swa cable i require to supply an office. the office will have 2 x 32A ring mains, 2 x 6A lighting circuits, 1x 20A heating circuit. The lighting circuits total wattage equates to 1800w. The rings will have roughly 8 sockets each. The supply cable will be a 3c...
Hi All
On inspection of any ccu am i to understand that it should be noted on the test sheet that the tails should be 25mm obviously most installs that are a little old will have 16mm or less so should this be noted as undersized incoming tails.
Also regarding searching for the main water...
There seems to be a lot of ambiguity and difference of opinions on the Forum regarding shower cable sizing. I have one to fit, 9.7Kw through a seperate RCCB and 50a MCB shower unit via a Henley block using 16mm tails. @ 11m run - 6m capped trunking, 3m under floorboards and 2m clipped direct in...
I did the 2382 last year and during the coarse the lecturer told us that in NEW domestic dwellings the live tails would now have to be 25mm. I cant seem to find where in the regs he came up with this but I think it was associated with chapter 54/earthing, and some cross referencing. any idea ...
Just a quick one. When adding up all the MCBs in the consumer unit and applying diversity I work out the design current as 101.5A. This is not a large house. A 10.2kW electric oven, 7.2kWshower, 3kW boiler, ring final circuit, 2 x lighting circuit etc. If it were at the design stage I take it...
Hello, just wondering if anyone knows of any links to a table of cable sizes and there Amp limits etc, just something i can print out and have in hand if needed.
Cheers.
hi
I have a question, it's a bit of a long one i'm afraid! It's from a book, and it's been niggling me for a while. Ok,
An example of circuit design
A consumer lives in a bungalow with a detached garage and work-shop.
The building method is traditional brick and timber.
The mains intake...
Wondered if anyone can help ? If i was running in a sub-main for an extra c.u how would i calculate the size of cable. Foe example if my new c.u was going to supply 2x32a 3x6a circuits what calculation would i use to find the size of cable. read through the regs and i cant get my head round it...
Replacing cooker 32A mcb.
New is rated at 9kw = 39.1 Amps.
Been reading through other posts and some say I can use existing fuse because of allowing for diversity.
I was led to believe that diversity was for calculating tails / main fuse etc.
Will the 32A mcb be ok or should I uprate it to...
Can anyone shed a bit of light on correct sizing of mains tails...
I am always let to believe that all cables need to be protected by the correct size fuse...
So i know in a domestic that 25mm2 is the minimum permitted cable CSA and can take 114 Amps.
What happens in a commercial building for...
Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum so thought I'd ask a simple question and see if anyone can answer this with an easy solution.
I've just installed 3 new circuits to a renavation job (originally a butchers workshop now being used as a studio) the client wanted to keep the 3 phase supply and...
What and how do you calculate the sizing of the mains tails?
For example a three phase + neutral incoming supply rated at 250 Amps serving several distribution boards.
Do you just put mains tails in that are big enough CSA to carry 250Amps each
or less CSA that are just big enough for each...
Hi
Im new to the forum so thanks in advance.
I have been out of the trade for many years and I am retraining at the moment. I would be grateful if you can shed some light on circuit diversity and cable sizing.
If a new single phase DB is to be installed. The new DB will have a max demand...
Help needed please everyone
This week on my course we have been instructed that when designing a circuit and specifically cable sizing that to work out the cable size you devide Ib (design current) by grouping/ temperature factors etc. However everything i read is telling me its In...
