Iv been asked to price the fitting of 4 smoke alarms and 1 heat detecter in a flat. Its got an old fuse box with no r.c.d. Im pretty sure that no r.c.d would be needed for this new smoke alarm circuit as the cables would not be in the wall, so all I would need to do is a minor works...
Out of curiousity, is there a regulation thats states mains smoke alarms have to have a battery backup? Obviously make sense to for just a few extra quid.

Got a loft conversion going on soon, i would like to fit radio link alarms on ground,1st and loft level..prob is, all 3 floors are on a different lighting circuit,
Is this ok to connect from three different feeds ? or as i suspect , they should all come off the same circuit ?

when fitting a new dual rcd split board the smoke detectors are off the lighting circuit. Does this require a seperate rcbo or can i put the circuit onthe same rcd as one socket circuit ???? :Mr-T:
hi did a pir on a place and board needed changed. It only had 1 battery smoke alarm and i recommended fitting mains linked ones. Client said no to cost and asked for battery wireless ones.
