Hello All,
I am working on a kitchen extension which has 3 Universal Beams bolted together which sit on block-work. There is no direct connection to earth. However when tested it has a path to MET of 2kOhm.
As a result I plan to bond this steelwork.
The design of the room means these beams...
Any recommendations? I have 25mm steel conduit going into 20mm reducers feeding a plastic time guard switch and then returning to steel conduit again on the other side. An earthing nut is too chunky. I think I need those smaller flat brass plates you get on SWA cables.

Hi guys,
Bored at home, so making a bench using old conduit I ripped out. Trying to use as much recycled as possible and was wondering if anyone had anything lying about. Looking for 8 x dome covers and 8 x tee’s, inspection or solid. All 25mm. Will pay postage ofc.
cheers
I need to run a length of steel conduit. One end it will connect into a standard 25mm BESA box, on the other end, it will go into a sharp elbow. The conduit has to thread through a hole in the floor that is very close to the wall. If I thread the conduit through the hole and then place either...
Hi, silly question but in College we only learned how to mark up holes for end caps. I’m just wondering what the standard practice is for marking holes in steel trunking for attaching couplers?
The previous Electrician I was working with we used templates but there’s non on this site so i’m...
Good afternoon one and all
Does anyone in the Dorset area have good experience with steel conduit? If so please could
I pick your brains on a few things?
What code would you attach to this gem, I gave it C2. These terminals are contained within steel trunking but are also part of a live 3 phase cct. See picture. It is installed as a 100 Amp 3 phase ring with these terminals every few metres. Distribution boards are connected from these terminals...
I need someone to enlighten me about Earthing and Bonding.
We've just completed the construction of four Fabricated Steel Bay Structures with a total of 354 Stansions 102 Beams, all connected to the Porlins, the place is to be used to seat 120,000 persons.
I am not in doubt of the importance...
hi guys just bare with me please still learning lol! if i have connected my steel trunking to the metal frame work via bush and cuplin and and the steel frame is earthed and i can prove continuity from my trunking to the steel work do i still need to earth my steel trunking and also do i need...
Evening
Just been to quote for a consumer unit upgrade. Found that the board was from circa 1960 and wiring looked original also. No alterations have been made with exception of a few faceplates renewed in the kitchen. Red and black single cores going into an adaptable box at the back and...
I'm installing stainless steel sockets in my new house and I'm wanting some contrasting bronze screws. I've installed stainless steel screws into bronze fittings before, and I really like the contrast. However, I don't want the screws to be a dirty brass colour, I'm wanting a bright, shiny...
Carried out a couple of EICRs on BISF prefabs and on both there is no main bonding to the steel frame of the building.
My scheme technical helpline advised that main bonding was not required. Just wondered what people's thoughts are here?
These are NOT pictures of the actual lofts (the roof...
I’ve been asked to add a couple of extra points to the single ring main in a flat. Building fabric is concrete, all of the electrical installation is steel conduit buried in the concrete.
I opened the consumer unit and could only see one CPC for a radial socket, as well as the main Earth. No...
Looking for writen guide to bending Conduit.
All conduit bending guidance seems to be done through word of mouth.
Looking for a writen guide even if ancient
There must be something writen down with guidelines, angles etc. There seem to be US guides but nothing for the UK.
Thanks.
Good evening
I am currently a training to become an electrician. I do hold both initial verification and periodic testing qualifications however this is an issue I have never personally had to deal with and was never mentioned on any of my courses as often seems to be the case.
Basically I am...
Hi
I’m new to the forum & just a DIY’er!
I’m running a 15m length of 2.5mm 3 core (twin & earth) SWA to our decking at the back of the garden for a double socket.
Must the steel wire armour be earthed using the banjo or is the CPC core sufficient?
Thanks in advance!
J
Does anyone have the copper equivalent of a two core 16mm SWA to hand? Or the minimum SWA 2 core CSA in which the steel would be equivalent to a 10mm copper conductor? Don't have the info to hand.
Thanks.....
