Hi. I am trying to replace a heating timer with a smart switch. The current timer is the type with a dial on the front and 1 to 24 written on it where you pull out the little lugs to set what time the heating comes on and how long it runs for, APT is the make. The wires coming from the wall are...
Looking for a little advise as I’m not sure what’s happening
So I’m looking at moving a two way light switch probably about 100cm away from its current location as it’s obstructed
So I bought PRYSMIAN 6243YH three core and bare earth wire When I wired the existing switch connections up to...

Good evening,
I wondered how the MCB between RCD and the Main switch is wired while watching this video. Photo attached.
I assume a busbar link is connected to the main switch and mcb. Do the line conductors and the busbar connected at the same terminal and then go to the RCDSs?
Link to the...
Want to swap my trailer plug over with one that has a reed switch to deactivate the reverse sensors when I'm backing in the boat. They come in open and closed circuit models. How do I test my plug on the car to work out which kind I need?
My customer has just moved in and wants to make sure the electrics in the garage are safe. I have only carried out a pre-works visit so far and noticed this old MEM switch.
I believe it to be the isolation switch for all the garage electrics. Will it have a fuse inside it? Also, is this likely...
I plugged a drill press directly into a GFCI outlet in the garage. Something blew up by the drill press switch.
Since then the GFCI outlet LED has not lit up. I tested it and no voltage is detected. I replaced the GFCI with another and it didn’t work either.
What’s worse, the garage door...
I'm trying to replace this standard 2 gand 1 way switch with a smart switch.
I've put the both live wires into L in and the switched lives into L1 and L2. This is tripping the breaker though so I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance!
Looking for a metal pattress with screw fittings in the correct place for this old MK 2 gang socket.
The existing pattress of the socket that I am looking to replace has fittings on the side.
How should I wire a two way switch, so that I can switch it “on” at the bottom of stairs and “off” at the bottom of the stairs?
It is currently switching “on” and “off” using the right hand switch on the 2 gang switch - my preferred setup would be use the left hand switch.
However, the switch...
Hi, I have received conflicting advice about Main Isolator Switches and would appreciate forum member's help to plan a way ahead. Looking to the future I might need a 7.4kW/32A charging point and the garage isolator is only 60A.

Hi all, after a bit of advise if ok please. We have a switch which currently only powers one single LED down light in our ceiling. From this switch I would like to add a feed (already installed) to provide power to three LED wardrobe lights. Max wattage is an extra 9w on top of the current 5...
Hi everyone. I bought one of those smart switches, specifically the Kasa 3 way kit (HS210 KIT).
But when I opened my 3 way dumb switches I see only those wires:
Downstairs switch:
One wire: black, red, white coming out. Those are connected to the switch.
Upstairs switch
Two wires:
One wire...
My auto switch (Briidea HGAS-01) has NC and NO terminals on both the shore and gen side of switch. I know what nc and no is symbols for (normally open and closed) . Instructions are very limited. Just shows schematics, but no indication of what the no and NC are for. I would like to have the...
Hey everyone,
I am a brand new trainee and I am doing some re-wiring and changing out some lightswithces and some sockets.
The homeowner asked me to change out this switch but it has a crumbling powdery type box which I can't tell if its just heavily degraded plastic or potentially an ACM...
A switch i saw today has a T+E in the switch and only a single T+E in the light fitting.
I'm presuming this means it's junction boxed somewhere?
Could someone point me in the direction of a potential diagram for such a set up?
I have 2 kitchen lights, each on its own switch. I would like to re-wire them to where the first switch turns on both lights, but where if the first switch is in the off position, the first light goes off but then the second switch can nevertheless turn on and off the second light.
I have a...
Hello, my house was built in the 1950s and every time I look behind a wall plate the wiring isn’t how it’s shown in any DIY book I’ve read. I’m trying to replace a switch with an LED-friendly one. Wall j-box has two cables coming in, one has 2 wires and the other has a 3rd wire that’s red. The...
Hello mates. i have an MK CU to replace. As you may know, the main switch in MKs is on the left hand side.
There's no way to replace the meter tails. Is there another manufacturer that has a left-hand main switch CU, or a flexible position option?
Thanks muchly!
