Hi,
Need some help with an odd setup. I have a large room with many lights that i separated into 2 sets. In Box 1 there is the 14/2 power in, 2 regular 3-way switches and 2 14/3 wires out to the box at the other side of the room.
In Box 2 i only was able to put a single gang box so i got a...
Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing a property. I have made an offer, and after my own little survey, I noticed a few issues with the electrics.
The current owner has installed a partition wall where you enter the property to create a hallway that is separate from the living room (before...
Hi and thankyou for reading this. I have an issue where my lights in my camper (12v LED) contain their own switch which is reset every time i use the rocker switch to turn them off. This means that i have to turn on the rocker switch and then turn on the microswitch in the lights - which is a...
Hi all,
I'm installing a temporary supply to a modular kitchen and need to bring over a new 3PN supply for a new temp consumer unit located externally in a suitable IP enclosure.
The cabin is connected via 63a plug, do I need a rotary isolator to control my 63a socket if the said socket is...
Rewiring an old farm cottage… every wall brick and previous wiring not done well at all.
I can’t locate any of the prescribed zones diagrams on the forum, and can’t always trust if I google one…. And simply can’t be arsed to look for my book.
Kitchen switch can’t go straight up, as there a...
Hi,
I'm new here so apologies if this isn't the correct area to post this.
We moved in to a bungalow around 8 months ago and had a full re-wire done etc.
Over the past 2months we've been ripping out the kitchen as some damages (non-electrical) came to our attention meaning we had to stip back to...
Boy, it sure would’ve been nice to figure this out before drywall. I have a book that shows all the different ways to wire a three way switch and I wasn’t paying close enough attention and the way I wired it is not in the book. There is a traveler between the switches. Is this fixable without...
DIY ENTHUSIAST NEW FORUM MEMBER.
I took a photograph of the old wiring set up( which was working) and used it as a guide for wiring the new one.
The lights themselves are housed in the loft above and I was wondering if a fuse has blown in the plug or that there is a reboot button somewhere.
(Trying again, as picture didn't post first time)
Hi, I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me here. Below, I've pasted a sketch showing how my oven is currently wired up, followed by 3 potential solutions, but of course I'd be more than happy to see alternative propositions. But let me...
HI
My flat just failed the EICR because there is no RCD in the consumer unit.
There is no space for a new RCD as the consumer unit is full.
Do I have to have a new larger consumer unit installed?
Or can I have the existing on/off switch replaced by an RCD?
Thanks
Alan
Just bought an old house (about 30-40 years old) with a separate shop building. I am in the process of replacing old fluorescent fixtures with new LED fixtures. The lighting is controlled by 2 switches, one at the back door and the other at the front. The wiring appears to run from one switch...
Hi there
I am getting someone in to change an outdoor switch and outdoor wall light (like for like).
The old switch and light was covered by a lean which has now been removed so everything will be fully exposed.
I've bought a new outdoor switch and lamp.
Would someone be able to explain to me...
I replaced a single pole to exterior lights with a smart switch. Next to it is a 3way to my foyer light. The foyer and the smart switch to exterior works. However I seem to have killed the power to an exterior outlet. In order to get the switch to work, I had connect the red switch pigtail...
Hi. I want to replace my traditional light switch for a smart Wi-Fi switch, but my current switch has 3 cables, COM, LOOP and 1WAY. Where should I connect these cables on a new smart switch that has N, L, L1, L2, L3? Thanks.
Have a bunch of home automation in place, and am considering installation of a Shelly into a light switch to remotely control some lights. Looking at the current switch configuration, it should all be pretty straight forward. Have a two gang switch, one light switch (left in the pic), controls...
hello
the old light pull switch in my bathroom has broken and no longer pulls - i have bought a new one - but it looks different inside.
is is just a case of taking the two wires from the old one and connecting them to the new one or is this something more difficult... as no doubt can be...
Hola!
I’m in the process of renovating an apartment in Madrid. The consumer unit is fitted with an old 15amp ICP switch. I believe its function is now handled by the smart meter, so it is redundant. As this is limiting the power available to the property I would like to remove it.
My...
I'd like to find a timer switch, in a style that looks alright next to decora light switches, to control a bathroom fan.
The bathroom fan connects to a 120V AC continuous power source. It has a USB plug that connects to a humidity detector, and it has leads that can connect to a switch that...
I've got a security light which has two wires like a normal ceiling lamp (the first wiring diagram attached).
I bought a new security light which has three wires (live, neutral, earth), attched is an image of that.
There is also attached a picture of the current security light with its live...
