Following on from the thread on Two way and intermediate switching (and related conversations) I was wondering where the "recognition" of just one of the methods comes from how far it had spread.
I've assumed preference stems from osg 7.4.4 as followed by Figure 7.3.

I did post a link this evening to a web site that was given to me and it shows the difference of the proposed changes. It is very detailed and I understand that this was developed for NAPIT members. Since posting it here it has not appeared, so I assume its not allowed. If anyone wants the...
Hi every one,
Im new to this forum. FNG!. A simple question that I cant seem to find the answer to is can I run TnE in steel conduit? I know singles would be the best option but the customer has lots of TnE and wants to keep the cost down. I would strip out the cable but I dont have enough...

I am about to instal a new lighting circuit in an extension with vaulted ceilings. I have calculated the length to be about 100m, and have worked the voltage drop with 1.5mm cable to be 12.18 using the calculation of: 29(from table 6e2) x 4.2(design current) x 100(length) all divided by 1000. Is...
Have just installed a garage CU and want to check Ze/Zdb is ok
Main board in house, Ze is 0.19ohm
Garage board, Zdb is 0.44 ohm
Zs on all circuits in the garage is well within limits given in table 41.3 in the BRB
I know max Ze for the main board is 0.35ohm (as per the OSG for a TN-C-S supply)...
this slightly confuses me;
whenever a Zs reading comes up too high, e.g on a particularly long run, to get around the problem if you cant change the MCB rating, I get told to change it for an RCBO.
Table 41.3 of the regs gives max Zs values for both MCB and RCBO protection. If our Zs value...
Is there any such thing called Table of info from DNO that, for a given main fuse rating and nominal voltage and Ze, you have the info for maximum PFC and so on? For instance what could be the PFC for a 230 volts nominal voltage and 0.8 ohms Ze? Thanks
Hi,
First off, apologies if I am posting this in the wrong forum.
I'm looking to replace a switch in a light I've bought and hence am seeking a place to find a replacement.
If anyone could help me locate a replacement/a place to start looking I'd be incredibly grateful!

Hi,
I'm installing a 14 way Hager CU with a terminal rail supplied as standard with two neutral terminal bars and a larger earth terminal bar, the housing is helpfully marked with numbering.
As I am installing three MCBs which will not be RCD protected I have an additional 5 way terminal bar...
Have been concerned about an install thats running on the warm side.
MCCB is rated at 200 250A supply cable is supposed to be 95mm swa (4 Core) which surprises me looks more like 70mm at best 50mm worst. Nothing on the side wall (Darn those manufacturers)
Now the MCCB has a design operating...
Just the other day a friend of mine who is a store manager at a big DIY retail store had a customer return a table lamp. It had a big metal body to it but only a 2 core flex to the plug top, it had no earth. He asked me what I thought and I said it is very odd that it doesn't have the earth, in...
Hi
In relation to my earlier post, http://www.electriciansforums.net/electrical-forum-general-electrical-forum/34501-please-help-crabtree-starbreaker-board.html
Can some one please clarify for me? Cutting a long story short, I am new to this but fitted 20m of 6mm in plastic conduit...
Hi All,
I have been using the horizontal row of table H2 for roofs <30 degrees. Discovered recently that I should be using the 30 degrees row for angles approaching it. I cannot find any conclusive advice as to what to use.
Which row should be used for <30 degrees?
Any help appreciated and...
Just a rough guide I guess, for different lamps and types of fittings with their respective candela (cd) amounts etc..
Any links out there you bunch of beauties?
Hi. Can anyone advise please?
A customer recently bought a porcelain table lamp from my store but it was ordered from Portugal and had no wiring in it. It was just a porcelain shell. They have now asked me to wire it for them, a switched BC lamp holder and a plug lead.
Am I aloud or is...
Hope every one had agood new year
If you meter tails of 25mm goes into a CB and comes out in 16mm to the CU can the 16mm earth dropped down to 10mm at this point or should it stay at 16mm. (this is a PME system). i'm looking in the regs but isn't clear to me
I have been looking at the tables in my onsite guide. I have noticed that when you get to the table for radial circuits (5% drop, page 50, ) when you get to the 45amp ratings, there are maximum cable lengths given for bs1361 and bs3036 fuses, but nothing for any type of mcbs or mcbos. Does...
