Any light shed on this would be good, thanks.
did a cu upgrade on a house the other day but could not identify 1 16a radial circuit. The old board was not labelled and the owners were no help. I searched high and low for it and the house was also full of junk which didn't help. What do others do in this situation ?
Have a friend that's currently working on a church complex, building 1 is fed via a 3ph head with the gas meter being located within this building, building 2 is totally seperate and has its own 100amp single phase head and meter. The problem being building 2's gas supply is from building 1...
Can't take the lack of work much more and really do not like what solar pv has become in this country, so I'm out. A couple of loose ends to tie up over the next few weeks then the company will be wound up and I will become a one man band lacky for hire. If anyone in the midlands needs a...

Hi All
I have been asked to test and certify the mains electrics in a 1976 vw camper that is part of a rental fleet - anyone done this before? I am assuming what they need is the rcd tests and dead (I.R, R2 etc) as Ze, Zs etc will vary depending on where it is plugged in!
Thanks
Tom
Just finished a job in an Indian Restaurant. The owner wanted to pay me in free meals, I said free takeaways won't pay of the overdraft. He thought for a while and then offered me peanuts. Well somethings better than nothing, so I accepted. At least it should keep the monkeys in the Bank happy...
Hi all, I did my apprenticeship with a local council mainly on residential housing & schools. I've not worked full time as an electrician for coming on two years now. When working for the council, I was on a cyclical testing team for two years before leaving.
I'm wanting to set up my own...
The use of microinverters seems to be under threat being that the MCS have written a paper asking for DC isolators on these systems.
Will post more information over the weekend when I get hard copy.
Hi everyone, I'm off to Florida next week & need to check if things will work when plugged in. I know the voltage is different but I'm assuming things will still work or you couldn't get an adaptor? Any info you've got would be really helpful.
Thanks Ian
I'm poised to spend £11,500 on a 4kW installation. Here in NI, we still have top-end ROCs and the installer ran some figures for us. He projects an annual return from the installation of around £2,000.
We even have a loan option which means we'd only earn around £1,000 for the first 5 years...
Just gauging opinion, due to my impending annual solar PV mcs assessment , we have been approached by a couple of wholesalers about installing thermodynamics, after looking at the data available on the net and the cost of the kits I am thinking of adding it as a second technology at my...
No not a job I have done silly :)
Who's thought about it though?
You've been to price on a job and you know full well that the quote is going to be ignored and some local mate will sort the simple 5 minute job for a couple of beers rather than the 500 odd quid that the rip off sparky wants...
Well hello everyone,
just 16 more days and I turn 18. I always loved disasembling devices which people usually want to throw away. Had some shocks in the past, lucky me survived them all :p I always have crzy ideas if it comes to mechanical engineering. This time I need some electric help where...
Are prices really getting that bad?

Has anybody recently moved into this field or know of a progression route that doesn't involve £4000 and another 3 years of day release college for...
Hi,
I have got 2330 L3, 17th edition and 2392.
I have been contested against by someone saying I still need to get AM1 or AM2 done. To my knowledge this is the first ive really heard about them.
What are they exactly?
Do I need to take them?
Have the been phased out?
What benefits will they...
Just wandered what people are using for their inverter choice as a budget option?
I've seen some good prices on Steca inverters recently and they look great. Anything else?
While were at it, what about panel prices?
It sounds like some companies are heading down towards 50p/w
